Hey all,

I've been living outside sheffield for a number of years but there are still a number of areas that I'm unsure of. Hopefully I will be moving to the Gatefield Road area but I have NO idea what the area is like. Is it bad for crime? Can I expect to be abused by chavs on every street corner? Or is everybody as nice as pie? Well, some pies anyway :)

Any help would be very much appreciated.

We walk to work every morning down Gatefield Rd and back again after work. It's quite alright crime wise and there is a surprisingly good sense of community for such an ethnically diverse area. The 'chavs' (dreadful word & inference most of the time) tend to drive round in cars with exhausts the size of oil pipelines even just 100yds from home to the Proud Potato! So they don't hang around on street corners. The younger kids do and some can be verbal on occasion, however I can only remember once in about 18 months when I felt like clipping the little sod.
