i think we will hear lots of things, its not far from the five arches where that shooting was... i saw some mechanical machine in the road so dunno if it a bomb thing...
Called in at BP garage at about 7.15ish to fill up and it was full of police (squad car and on foot) and I overheard one tell another that "It is at the top of the hill by the church." Assume he meant the Moonshine Methodist church.
Also a partol car parked on Southey Crescent just opposite the garage at this time.
mistyraven 30-08-2005, 22:01 I live about five min,s away.. anyone know what happened then...

LOL@ Saxon, not doing too badly  Lil bit rougher than I expected but neighbours seem fine, still at the settling in stage, bare walls etc but I'm gettin there and am still just glad to be back in Sheffield.
But only me and young son in house so not leaving him just to have a nosey on behalf of the forum ;)
candystick 30-08-2005, 22:44 My eldest had a wander up and the police were taking photos of the road ( moonshine lane ). Someone told her a boy had been snatched.
LellyBee 30-08-2005, 22:54 Oh my lord, I hope this isn't true.
mistyraven 30-08-2005, 22:55 oh dear that,s really sad. I hope it is nothing like that.
whatever it is its still ongoing. bbc local news just reported that moonshine lane is closed in both directions.

I live 2 mins walk from Moonshine lane, and drove past not half an hour ago ... never noticed a thing. Shows how observant I am!
I'm intrigued as to what is going on, though ...
just said on news its closed because of a 'police incident'...wonder what that is.. oh hang on they just mentioned a possible abduction...will report when i hear.
:hihi: to spiffymonkey..your eyes must be painted on..u really observant arent ya:heyhey: :heyhey:
:o :o a young boy age 6 or 7 possible abduction..oh my god!!!!!!!! it just said on news..:o :o
candystick 31-08-2005, 08:08 The said POSSIBLE abduction of 6 or 7 year old boy on the radio.
Wouldn't the police know for sure by now as it is supposed to have happened around 6pm yesterday. Surley someone would know if their child had not returned home after playing out. :suspect:

i really hope this is not true, its a little bit too close to home if it is,,
i must say though there have been a lot of police around here lately closing off roads. everytime i drive home i pass at least 2/3 police cars parked in strange places as though they are waiting to be called!
what is going of in sheffield in last few weeks?i have never known the news to be as full with stabbings and murders in such short space of time here!
exactly tpiddo..i totally agree surely they must know by now:loopy:
Ginger_Kitty 31-08-2005, 09:51 I drove up moonshine lane at about 6.20 last night and ther was a singular police car stopped near the church with the officer talking to a rather distraught looking woman... thought it looked a bit odd then...now i know why....

Yeah, but in my defense I was on autopilot, just enough concentration to drive to work :)
I hope that 'possible abduction' means that the child might have wandered off and has not yet been found, as opposed to the seriously more worrying alternative. Sounds like the child is in the same school year as my daughter ... !

lets just pray this woman was mistaken and there is nothing going on..
praise to the police for taking it so seriously even if it turns out to be wrong:clap:
Internetowl 31-08-2005, 14:30 interestingly enough no children been reported missing...so probably just a mis-behaving kid being dragged into the family car.

Hopefully this is a good sign that there hasnt been any reportings of missing children...
I feel it can be nightmare for parents these days with Children that wont do as they're told... It can in some cases look very odd when a Child is with their Dad but screaming out for their Mummy or vice versa (especially when there's no woman/man in sight of the parent with the Child)
codeman_cas 31-08-2005, 23:23 i was lisening to the radio this morning and heard moonshine lane had been shut down investigating an abduction ....well i really hope and prey is a hoax or a mix up as there is too much violence and hatred in the world without any more.
please keep us posted as i live close and am fairly worried about this child.
LellyBee 31-08-2005, 23:28 see this thread here, bit of info and link to local news on it

Kristian 31-08-2005, 23:36 Mod: Threads merged. Thanks for the link!
Internetowl 01-09-2005, 15:28 the link in the thread just leads back to this thread ? what is the point of that - pointing to the thread from within the thread..
I despair..
LellyBee 01-09-2005, 15:43 When I posted the link to this thread, codeman_cas had started a new thread asking about moonshine lane, I posted the link so he could find the old thread, and Kristian then merged the threads ;)
Today's star says police now think it was a false alarm.
