Anybody know where/what the fire is/was in/near Woodhouse?

We were out walking the dog, and the sky was ablaze. We could hear the flames, although we suspect we were over a mile away.

It's likely to be on the land near the recycling centre, but we're not sure.

Anybody know any more details?

I only clicked to check on Woodhouse news, I can't see any flames from my 'vantage' point!

I rely on you folks for the local news as the BBC website shows sod all.

Saw the police helicopter hovering and then the smoke and then the flames. It appears to have been somewhere near the new (Redrow?) building site at Beighton near the A57

Not very helpful but, I saw an orange glow as we came down the A57 to the Coisley Hill roundabout....
The helicopter was hovering, but furher up that road towards Handsworth/Richmond, well, over the bit of field as soon as you turn on to the top of that road...

Not noticed anything from our house though, and it was at Woodhouse, I should imagine we'd have noticed it when getting out of the car...

Helpful, I know.

Bit late I know but I saw this from my window last night and it looked like one hell of a fire. It was on the farmers field high up between the A57 and Eckington Way (just above the roundabout) near Beighton.

It was very dramatic as the fireman seemed to be walking right through it. What brave men. I just hope it was an accident and not kids starting fires again. One day someone will get seriously hurt.

The fields went up in smoke. Along with quite a few hedgehogs I imagine.

Amazing sight though. Twenty foot flames. Looked like a plane had crashed.

The trusty helicopter was there though to direct the firemen.

So no serious damage to property or loss of life then?

Good :)

wow i saw it what a blaze im just glad it was fields it was massive.

we got a great view of it from hackenthorpe shops i agree it was like something out of a film.

im sure it was no accident has it is happening too much round the area the kids have nothing to do in the area which leads them to making there own entertainment i bet they were over the moon when they saw what they had achived there.pity they cant put so much effort in to doing something good.
