Another Blade :)

It's my local team, I'm from an area of mostly Sheffield United fans and my Nannan and Uncle are both Blades (my parents aren't really bothered about football.) I was taken to matches at an early age by my Uncle and I fell in love with it.

I wasn't allowed a season ticket until 6 years ago (because I'm a girl and the parents thought it was a phase I was going through, highly unfair) but I've been a regular both home and away ever since. I even met my boyfriend of four years from chatting on United message boards :)

The blue and white wizards aka sheffiwld wednesday, someones got to I suppose. Nah were not that bad I've always had a season ticket whenever my mum and dad have been able to afford to get me one. Have to buy my own next season i think, gutted. not looking forward to playing Un*"*d think we could get a beating with the way they are playing at the moment, although the mighty graham coughlan will have a good go at stopping them.

lol, well I am seeing this from a neutrals point of view. Having the most fans doesnt mean you are the better TEAM does it.
I think you may be wearing Blue and white tinted glasses if you really do think that. Sheffield United are by far the better team out of the 2. ;)

Maybe so spyro2000, i cant fault what you say, but im not a neutral, im a Blue ~ United are on the up mr w has done and is doing a grand job... from a neutrals view you would say united are the better team...... for now... time will tell. wednesday are the biggest team "support wise" and so the biggest sheffield team..... the league table speaks for its self.

Not a glory hunter, but a glory supporter, supporting the team when they were first winning things. So now that is his team.

Cobblers. I started supporting United around 1979-80, when they were poor. My first memories were losing 6-0 away at Portman Road. Then, about 12 years later came glory.
And the taunts.
Granted, a lot of people jumped on the bandwagon, but they did that at Liverpool and now they are doing it at Chelsea.
But for some reason mud only seems to stick with United.

Oooooh Millwall, I remeber standing on the terracing of the old den with about 5000 Newcastle fans singing

I have NEVER been so scared in my life :S

Typical Newcastle fans!! ;)

A lot of opposing fans I've met say that the old Den was the most intimidating ground that they'd ever visited - I can see why, narrow back streets and alleys etc.

However, I should say that I am by no means a hooligan - although every club has a 'dodgy' element.

This might have been said here b4 as it's a long thread but.......

why can't Owls and Blades be happy that both teams do well?

I know there is fierce rivaly, but surely that is best taken care of in the Premier League.

If both teams are in the Premiership, it is good for our City. Not this ' I hope the Owls fold' or ' I'm glad the Blades didn't get promotion ' routine.

Yes, I am not a follower of any one team and also not naive that people are passionate about their team, but why do fans want to see their city rivals ' die ' rather than beat them in the league?

BrainThrust
02-11-2005, 23:40
I really think both sides like to have a bit of harmless banter, but it really (for those supporters with at least 2 braincells) does end there.

I'll be happy if a sheffield team are in the premiership, I'd prefer Wednesday but we'll see. Looking at the blades form so far they are more likely.

One part of me wants them to stay down too, if we stay up because sheffield derbies really are something amazing, anything can happen on the pitch.

The only thing I'm certain of is that I really want Wednesday to stay up. Beating SUFC might give us badly needed points but I'd rather us be trashed soundly home and away but get several other wins that put us out of relegation and safely into lower middle table.

Sheffield United.

Why?!..because I am from Sheffield..I had a choice of two Sheffield teams, Sheffield United and Wednesday, but at the age of six and a girl I might add!!.. plus from a family that supported Wednesday, I knew that Sheff U was a good team to support.

I got alot of stick being a lass and supporting Sheff U whilst most of my family supported Sheff W, but at the age of 24 I still dont care. Sheff U are the best and they have proved me right over the years!!!
