Whats happening with the 80's bar??? Is it re-opening?? Why did it shut? It always seemed busy.....

Which 80's bar, the present big one or the old 80's bar that was the West Street hotel?

I belive your speaking about the old flares bar ?

If so , its closed cos it was ****.Reopening as a posh resturant/bar im lead to belive read that in the sheffield star a while back

I heard it was opening as a live music venue.

I enquired about taking it over myself, but was just pipped to the post.
As far as I know it is re-opening soon.

I believe the people who own/run Cavells on High Street(?) have taken it over.

I remember when it was the 70s bar.

Maybe it's turning into a 90s bar? :clap: :clap:

Cavells have taken it over, there's a post in the "Jobs Available" section looking for staff!

I hate "decade bars". Or nights for that matter.

Don't joke!! I was up in Newcastle at the back end of last year and they had a 90s bar there. I had to ask myself "why?"!! ;)

its repopening as a bar/restuarant with live uisce & doing cajun/soul food.I beleive it's aiming to cater for the over 25's/

Went in said bar , thought it was amusing but give it a few years and they'll be a chain of them with one in every city!Ummmm i may just do that......

Now open - well just in the evenings from 5pm'ish onwards... looks pretty smart from what I can see. :wow:

Went in Friday, was impressed, cheapish drinks, table service..

This place will do well :D

Went in Sat night...not at all bad. Free to get in to see local band. I cant see though how they are going to pull a profit on this very quickly..it will take a fair while...the refurb is 100% a refurb and not just a decor change.....they moved the bar to create a central spacious square bar looking quite sophisticated, but it takes up a lot of room. New stage installed, etc. Must have spent a lot of cash in there.....

Clientele were interesting mix of gay students, the token local chav and chavette, couple of bikers, and age group 30 to 55 in collared shirts.....very curious blend of people.....will be keeping my eye on this one.

However, door staff were the friendliest on all of West Street and very chatty as well.

The refurb is fantastic :D

And yes.. No grizzly door staff..

Unlike that Gorilla on the Cavendish :hihi:
