Where did you go and what bargins did you get, if any? RPG 05-01-2004, 23:43 I have, not much tho. Best bargain ive got so far was a Home Cinema Amp + Speakers for £50 :D and a Pulp CD for £2.99 :D bargain! Classic Rock 06-01-2004, 13:57 Lots of cheap M&S underwear, a few cheap CDs but I generally thought the sales weren't too exciting and not worth it. No major bargains anywhere really. halevan 06-01-2004, 19:04 Never go, can't be bothered, waste of time, a load of rubbish, sale goods are manufactured for a price, so anyone foolish enough to buy is living in cloud cuckoo land, if they think they are getting something for nothing. Moon Maiden 06-01-2004, 19:06 sorry to dissapoint you Hal. Whilst that may have been the case in previous years - it appears that many business are dropping prices as low because of lack of customer interest - i.e no one is spending. I have heard this evening that many stores are planning on year round sales just to get people through the doors. Moon Maiden spook 06-01-2004, 20:36 suit jacket, two pairs of suit trousers, two shirts and a tie for work from m+s for £99 which I thought was a right bobby dazzler! Moon Maiden I normally try to keep away from Meadwhall between the months of September to March as it is. Does this mean I might have to extend this? t020 06-01-2004, 23:07 Originally posted by Lickszz I normally try to keep away from Meadwhall between the months of September to March as it is. It makes me laugh all of them swarming round a little corner full of crap thats been in store for years in every sale we've had and its still not sold! Im such a hypocrite cos ive been to the sales myself and got some bargains. Like today i got a nice wool coat for £17 down from £50. I wouldnt have bought it if it was £50 though! halevan 09-01-2004, 10:42 Originally posted by spook1210 suit jacket, two pairs of suit trousers, two shirts and a tie for work from m+s for £99 which I thought was a right bobby dazzler! Sorry Spook, if you were six foot two and slim, you would not be able to buy off the shelf because nothing would fit you. Even your so called "bargains" are only the goods that no one else wants or "seconds" or have been in stock for years and out of fashion. My "friend" now deceased always bought cheap crap to save money and thought he had a bargain, but just managed to make himself look ridiculous. Tony Ruscoe 09-01-2004, 11:56 Originally posted by halevan Even your so called "bargains" are only the goods that no one else wants or "seconds" or have been in stock for years and out of fashion. This isn't always the case halevan, although certain shops have been known to bring out old stock (and seconds) for their sales. Often the shops just want to get rid of their seasonal stock (i.e. gifts/items that normally only sell in winter or at Christmas). halevan 22-01-2004, 16:29 Are we all being taken for a ride with these so called sales, nothing that is cheap is good "is it"? It is either old stock they have had for years or rubbish that has been specifically manufactured to sell at "SALES" at knock down prices and will fall to pieces in no time at all. The general public are regarded as fools by business's just to unload their unwanted junk on people who have not the gumption to know any better, the best way to force prices down is for everybody to stop buying for a time, then just see those prices fall (WOW)!!! Sidla 22-01-2004, 16:35 I didn't really notice anything after Christmas that was cheaper than it was before Christmas. If anything I think the prices have gone up after Christmas this year. RPG 22-01-2004, 17:57 Duplicate Topic: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5709 Edit: Merged *Twinkle* 22-01-2004, 17:57 I have hardly bought anything from the sales this year. There's more and more tack being churned out year by year and I for one am going to be buying it! I still have Christmas money left over because thers nothing which catches my eye! Oh dear I must be ill :-( jubby 22-01-2004, 18:42 Someone phoned me at work wanting to know about the computer she bought on Christmas Eve at full price, and if she brought in the reciept could she have the difference from the full price and the new sale price. It went in the sales on Boxing Day with £300 off. Had to work hard not to burst out laughing. *Twinkle* 22-01-2004, 19:20 oh noooo thats terrible lol!!!!!! |
