ive planted some seedlings but the slugs keep coming along ....how do i stop the slugs without poisoning the plants etc please?

I've been doing the delightful job of picking the big slimers up whenever I see them and relocating them under a rock across the road....bleurgh!

You can also sink a glass of beer into the soil and they will go in and drown whilst having a party or you can cut an orange or grapefruit in half, scoop out the middle and place it cut side down and they will, apparently, go under and be trapped. I haven't tried it though.

We used to get slugs in the shed and coming under the kitchen door. Not good stepping on a slug in the middle of the night when youve come down for a drink of water.
Stopped them with the copper strips, we bought from B&Q. 5m strip for about a fiver.

crushed egg shells apparently work too (gonna try this myself, will let you know if it works)

Coffee grounds, egg shells (but I didn't get much joy from that). I have also heard that laying out some poridge oats works well. They are attracted to them, eat their fill, the oats swell up, and the slug goes pop...
Another idea I've heard is making a ring around your plants with pennies and 2p's, not tried it yet, but I will do :D

The beer trap works wonders. I use a three-quarters-empty tinny, bury it up to it's neck and leave it. Fun for everyone involved :P

I second the glass of beer - cheap stuff works the best!
