View Full Version : Lost White Cat Firth Park Area
firthandy 29-08-2005, 20:39 Hi,
I have lost a little white cat. She is called Missy and is 6 months old.
She was last seen around the Torksey rd area of Firth Park at about 3pm today.
She is deaf so does not venture out that often.
She is wearing a Pink coller with my mobile number on.
If anyone in the area can have look in there gardens etc
Thanks

here is a pic of her itsnot too recent but she has not changed to much.
Fishpole 29-08-2005, 20:42 So sorry to hear that Andy. I hope Missy turns up.
Was she microchipped? Have you contacted all the rescues? I'd leaflet houses in the area as well in case she has got locked in someone's shed or garage. Good Luck!
I hope she turns up. I had a white cat who was deaf and she didn't venture very far either, I did panic if she was away for any lenghth of time. I had her for 15 years. Has your cat been spayed or isn't she old enough yet? I'm not sure how old they are before the start looking for a mate.
Good luck in your search.
firthandy 29-08-2005, 20:50 She was due to get spayed in a few weeks. I hope she has just gone out to satisfy her needs. Fingers crossed she will come home soon
firthandy 29-08-2005, 21:06 if anyone see's what they think might be her please pm asap.
Many Thanks
Just as an afterthought. When she does turn up, I know this sound strange, but during the summer months put sun tan lotion on her ears as they are prone to cancer. I also had the deaf cats mother for 14 years and she had to have her ears amputated. Mind you she looked rather cute - like a teddy bear! Joking apart its not very pleasant for them.
firthandy 29-08-2005, 21:09 we have heard that befor but werent sure if it was a myth or not. Well as and whe she gets back we will make sure we put it on her next time she goes out
mikeyspikey 29-08-2005, 21:14 we have two white cats of our own!!---i do hope you find yours!--anyway ill keep a look out as we are not far away just down the road at firth park!---might be an idea to call on jackie longley, she might be able to help!
Hi
Sheffield Cats Shelter hold the only lost and found register in operation in Sheffield at the moment, plus now the RSPCA have closed their doors most of the cats picked up as strays end up there too.
Please call them to put Missy on the register between 1 and 4 any day on 2724441. If you don't get an answer on your first attempt please keep going at it- it's difficult to pause and answer the phone when you're in the middle of giving a cat a pill.
They can also give you a phone number that will contact a register that the cleansing department hold, of all animal bodies and locations picked up.
I sincerely hope that she is fine, but it can be a comfort just to know that she hasn't been found run over.
You also should know that both the RSPCA inspectors and the dog wardens use Highfields Vets on London Road, from where they would often come to us, and the PDSA hospital for out of hours work. Both will have details, so it's worth taking a photo and contact details to both.
There is every likelihood that she has come into season and has been chased by toms and may be very frightened and quite close, but not in her own territory. Put up posters, ask people, knock on doors, ring vets and rescue centres, and if she is found get her straight to a vet for spaying (if she has come into season she WILL be pregnant and you will have baby decisions to make).
BTW if she has been picked up and taken to the Shelter you have 3 weeks to claim her (the time that it takes for a full course of vaccs) before she can be rehomed.
Good luck- when you find her safe and well give her a hug off me

PS If she is insured you will find that the insurers will offer a reward for return and a budget for publicising her loss. If she is chipped the chipping company can send out a 'lost/missing' notice to vets and shelters too.

firthandy 30-08-2005, 06:45 the wanderer returns 2.00am this moning
metalman 30-08-2005, 06:56 Hey that's great news - bet you're relieved!
 So pleased to hear the good news!
Great news! Give her a hug off me, then get a quicker vet appointment to get her spayed within the next few days if you don't fancy a pregnancy complicated by how young she is (potentially hundreds of pounds and a caesarian for Missy).
The sunscreen you need is Petscreen, it's SPF 23, a clear spray, although it's better if you spray it on your hand and wipe on as they don't tend to like the spray mist. It doesn't clog the fur up like the human variety can, so they don't overgroom and make their ears sore like my white boy Arthur does if you put human stuff on.
If your vet doesn't stock it or won't order it in, Highfields carries it as stock, at £6.97 a bottle, which lasts a whole summer.
Once again, big sigh of relief and a smile for you.
I've seen your little kitty before, she came right up to my patio doors and i opened them and she let me stroke her for ages! she's such a gorgeous little cat, i wanted to keep her! I'm glad she turned up safe and sound!
firthandy 30-08-2005, 09:54 This morning, just opened my post and got a letter with a £5 off voucher for the cost of neutering from the vets.
Its funny how things turn out....
I'm really glad to hear the good news. What a relief!
mikeyspikey 30-08-2005, 20:31 hi firthandy,
so glad to hear the good news!!
Glad you found her!
I also have a lil white cat called Blossom, shes such a
baby I love her and her sister fudge.
We were told to put sun lotion on her ears and nose too because they burn easier then darker cats.

As a footnote to this thread, I have just heard what I thought was my white boy Arthur in distress. He has a very loud, very distinctive voice which he uses lots, and interrupts many phone calls by talking to the person on the other end. My mother heard this cry down the phone, from outside with the windows shut.
So I went outside and called him. As usual, he answered. Then no cat- normally he comes to you when you call. OMIGOD he must be hurt and unable to reach me!
Proceed to shout and listen, move towards the yeowling, shout and listen, move a little closer. Getting really worried now, he must have been badly hurt if he can't move!
Go back into the house to find a torch and a blanket to fetch him into the house, worry about where to find the emergency vet number, then back out into neighbour's garden.
When I finally found him in the neighbour's garden what did I find? Arthur has a new call. This one, now I know it, quite clearly was
'Hey Mum, come and look at my dead frog!'
Ew!
