After walking the dog in the woods near my house I spotted a couple of small trees. They are about 3-4ft tall and seem to grow vertically. At the top there is a red bulbous type bud which is a red/green colour. It almost looks like a magnolia, but I havent seen many grow like that.
If anyone one has any ideas that would be great. If not I will try and get a pic next time im out.

Maybe Photinia?
