Have you tried Lawn Sand?

Hi Hayley1, no i've not tried anything yet apart from just raking it out. Thats why i thought i'd ask on here for any ideas. Does lawn sand kill the moss?

yes, and other weeds. It also helps to strengthen the grass.

Apply on a dry day, at least 3 days after it's last been cut - and don't cut it for about 3-4 days after application. If it doesn't rain for a couple of days, you should water the lawn.

the moss will turn dark brown/black after a few days, so if you have a spring-tined fork, you should then 'scarify' it which will pull all the dead stuff up.
Then you can mow it.

Oh and don't put the clippings on the compost heap.

I would then look into why moss grows there. It may well just need aeration (wiggle holes into the grass with a garden fork) to help air and drainage.

You may well have bald patches, but if you mix some compost with grass seed, it'll soon green up (just give it a couple of weeks)
