Sheffield will benefit enormously if Sheffield provides the next Prime Minister.

Sheffield should back the LibDems to the hilt.

Don't you think that the constituents of whichever ward provides the PM lose out?

I mean he (she) can't run the country and provide support to their constituents to the same level as other mps can they?

I wouldnt be too sure about that. Clegg came across more confident than the other two. I felt that Brown & Cameron talked to the cameras, where Clegg talked to the audience. I feel Clegg made the most of the opportunity. Im sure he will now polish his act for the next two meetings.

Personally I would disregard this and just ask people to vote for the party with the best policies for them.

That said, Nick Clegg did a great job of praising Sheffield in the debate last night.

In Sheffield Hallam that's pretty much the case.

I don't see why anyone would want their local MP to become Prime Minister though. If he's off running the country he won't have the time or inclination to get involved in local affairs, so effectively his constituents won't have an MP!

Let me point out that elections or won on who votes for which party on the day of the General Election. Whoever wins the debate matters not one Jott. Even if everyone voted Liberal in Sheffield there would not be a Liberal Government as they would have to make massive gains elsewhere and the Liberals do not have that kind of political clout. The most the Liberals can help for is a hung parliament that relies on their support. Even so Clegg would not become Prime Minister. In the event of a hung parliament the existing Prime Minister would continue.

But Clegg can be enormously influential as could be seen from last nights debate. He made the other 2 look like children, backstabbing at each other. The same old party politics will have to go , that is if we really do want change in this country.

Why are people voting for faces? Cameron, Brown and Clegg are nothing more than the face of the party - they don't determine policies to any extent, or make any decisions by themselves. Is it because it's easier for people with no understanding to feel connected to politics that way? Like its some kind of X Factor style event?

There certainly will be change:

Amnesty for 1 million illegal immigrants

Scrap the Nuclear Deterrent

Take Britain into the Euro

Get rid of our beloved Queen and replace her with a President (no doubt another politican on the fiddle)

Sex education for 5 year olds

Scrap prison sentances of less than 6 months (can you imagine how bad crime would become? Its bad enough now with out having more liberalism in the criminal justice system)

So yes it would be change but not for the better.

if nick keeps performing at the same standard in the next 2 debates, we may well see a further hike in support - the bbc news poll tracker currently has LibDems @ 2 points ahead of labour, but then again surely that's the least that should be expected?

After the Limp-dem partly political broadcast the other night, even the slender hope he might have had of me voting for him evaporated. The same person in a grey jacket and green hood, walks behind him twice, fro left to right, at one minute 21, and then again, from right to left, at one minute 24. So you decide on who to vote for based on the quality of editing in the political broadcast rather than policy. Nice :loopy:.

IMO, if they can't be bothered to ensure accuracy and honesty in editing the PPB, why should we expect, or trust them to pay attention to the details of running the country?

Well, using the amount of junk mail as a yardstick, it would seem no parties apart from Labour are interested in the votes in Sheffield Heeley.

Whilst I don't support Labour or it's policies, or will vote for them for that matter, Meg Munn has a very safe seat indeed. (In 2005, she got 54% of the vote).

You seriously think a slick performance by Nick Clegg on a televised debate is going to make any impact on the voting habits of Arbourthorne and the Manor? Lets face it, Simon Clement-Jones' name alone is a turn off to a lot of my neighbours.
