about 1.00pm outside debenhams and then later heading up fargate,so many that they even stopped the traffic and trams!
There's some race-thing on, sorry to be vague, but i remember seeing an information sign on the Ecclesall Road roundabout in the week saying it may cause traffice problems.
just a few BMXers having a 'jam' !

the race mentioned is probably the Tour of Britian, a road race that has a stage finishing in the city centre.

yes that was them! best thing i've seen in ages,
i'd rather see them than the usual drunks and thick football fans.
I think they were all heading up to the 3dom festival which was held on Devonshire Green yesterday - not noticed it mentioned on here at all.
It was a festival with live acts such as Estelle and was hosted by Richard Blackwood of MTV. There were kids rides and lots of BMX displays, dance and art and all sorts of stuff. During the festival they also mentioned that Music in the Sun would return in 2006.

I wondered when I would spot a thread on here about this! The linkage to my site has been done already so I don't need to plug my photos.
Nowt to do with the '3dom' riders I'm afraid - these 'cyclists' were street BMXers and the event was 'Battle Royale' - a kind of loose, unofficial gathering to ride the streets and pull tricks at different spots.
Rolled around from Devvy Green to Debenhams (around 1) to Odeon/Roxy to Ponds Forge (around 3) to Attercliffe and probably onwards.
Glad it was appreciated! The coppers turned up at Ponds Forge and seemed a bit bemused that a gathering of over 150 blokes were all friendly and having fun and getting on with each other as well as the cops. No agro - just fun. They didn't know what to do!
Was an awesome sight rolling round town in the swarm!
The tour of Britain comes to Sheffield (pinstone st) this thursday afternoon.
THere was a lot of cyclists out on Saturday for a mass bike ride - as part of a get healthy thing - this didn't go near the city centre, but finished either at Tapton or King Edwards schools - was great watching them all troop past! Looked mainly like good amateurs tho' as most were kitted out in cycle gear etc...
