At the risk of sounding like Ethel Nazi of Carshalton, just look at this :

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/northamptonshire/4194098.stm

Elsewhere this morning we read that some little squit has stolen a charity tin - is there any possibility that the lack of respect engendered to your fellow pupils and your teacher by swearing in class might bleed over in to the rest of your life?

And come on - the first thing that will happen is that the kids will have competitions to see how quickly then can get the 5 f-word limit reached.

And the punishment if the limit is exceeded?

The teacher will talk to the class.

I bet the kids are quaking in their boots at the prospect of being told that whilst the school believes in their right to free expression, it isn't nice to do it more than 5 times a lesson.

I give up.....

Joe :(

They'll just have a competition to see how quickly they can reach the 5 word limit and the most excesses.

Only from people I know I do not believe that a majority of school kids carry their behavior into after school life.

I used to work in a shop by a school and the youngsters were really really annoying. However - now those same youngsters are adults doing jobs or such - they have completely changed. Perhaps a taste of their own medicine has since sorted them out, or maybe they just grew up.

Best not to let a minority spoil it for everyone.

Aye and I was probably one of those kids...

Least I turned out ok in the end...:D

I remember being sent out of a lesson for having half a malteser stuck to my forehead imitating the teacher who happened to have a HUGE mole on his.... :hihi:

After being told to leave the classroom and come back in when I felt sensible...I just went home and called it a day for that particular day!!

The next day at morning registration there was a note requesting I see my Head of Year....I trundled along to his office to be confronted with his small frame but booming voice...
Where EXACTLY were YOU yesterday following this incident....I told him 'I didn't feel sensible enough to go back in the classroom so I thought it best I go home'...

He was 'lost for words'......still got the cane like...well the metre stick actually!!

This is just silly. Kids at school need to be given guidance, rules to follow and whereever possible to be treated as adults.

Can you imaging an office manager telling the staff about a limit for swearing? It's setting unreal expectations for them in the real world.

I'm not suggesting that every child swearing should be punished, but setting a limit makes it acceptable, and in my opinion limits the teacher's discretion; what if the f word is used only once, but it's directed nastily at an individual? Is that worse than it being used six times in context in an otherwise productive and valuable lesson?

They're making a rod for their own backs with this one! :|

I don't think the 'f' word is that bad a word anymore.

There are much worse ones out there.

I think the ones that describe others in a bad way are the worst.

Wasn't someone fined the other day for calling a Welsh person 'Boyoh'?

I sense a cunning plan. get the teachers to swear all the time in class. Swearing will cease to be cool and kids ill stop doing it.

Those I feel sorry for, is the students who actually want to be educated.

It is not fair that these good students will be forced to listen to bad language all day.

Instead of teaching, the teacher will spend a lot of time tallying up the swear words, to the disadvantage of the good students.

As an adult I have the right to a pleasant working enviroment and that includes freedom from swear words, why are children not allowed this same right in their schools !!!

I'm sure the students who receive "praise postcards" would prefer a proper education which will last their entire working lives than a postcard of praise for displaying basic manners.

Teacher's have a hard enough job keeping order as it is and now this lunacy. I'd of thought that the school should be teaching the kids that it is possible to string a sentence together without any swear words at all.
Maybe if the kids think it's clever or 'cool' to swear then the old fashioned remedy of washing their mouths out with soap should be utilised.

The teachers should be issued with a Taser - so when a kid goes over the limit they get zapped. They'll never do it again :P

*chuckles* How ludicrous! lol

if i were the teacher in this situation, I'd walk into the classroom, say "f***, f***, f***, f***, f***! Okay, limit reached; I don't want to hear another peep out of you! Good morning class! lol"

sorry, folks, it's just the devil in me! lol

There's a school not far from me within which I could show you teachers swearing in front of the pupils.

Don't forget that some of today's teachers are the products of schools only 5 or 10 years ago!
