Thanks Spyro.

It's been called "gear change radio" as the tempo can vary quite a bit.

Unlike a lot of stations, there's no talking or ads, just tunes.

I've recently added quite a bit of afrobeat and latin funk, courtesy of Ninio's frontman.

I should have the requests page up and running one day.

Anyone should be able to listen by clicking the link in my sig, or typing one of the two following urls into the appropriate place on their favourite media player -
1 - http://hypocaust.kicks-ass.net:16000/listen.pls
or
2- http://hypocaust.kicks-ass.net:16000

depends which you use.

It's now on more or less 24/7, but you may notice the occasional silence as my Web Shuttle locks up for no apparent reason...

How do you make your own radio station by the way?

you can get a plug-in for Winamp that will broadcast whatever your playing... well act as a server anyways :) I think that might be what Phan uses?

wouldnt be no good for me, I just flick between crazy thrash metal to classical and whatever I'm in the mood for hehe

I use SAM3 from www.spacialaudio.com (http://www.spacialaudio.com/products/sambroadcaster/) - it does some neat playlist rotation and its dB detecting crossfader is brilliant - hear it mix grindcore into the penguin cafe orchestra if you don't believe me.

Here's the most recent playlist
www.netheredge.com/playlist.gif

got one listener at the moment, I wonder who it is.

You can also see the current server status at http://hypocaust.kicks-ass.net:16000

as a matter of interest Phan do you need any sort of permission to broadcast?

well because it's not a broadcast, AFAIK I am just inviting forum members to listen to my stereo.

The fact that you are not physically present doesn't matter.

I'm still waiting for my cease and desist order, but since only a few people outside of this forum know of it, and the only link to it is at the end of my every post, I'm not expecting any day now.

Also, it's not broadcasting all the time. It is now though.

It does have a full facility for logging track plays and many commercial radio stations use the same software for automated operation.

I have my own dedicated server and run shoutcast server myself (it's limited to a very small number of listeners)

Oh, I'm surprised Tw*t is considered an offensive word on SF!

The age limit is 13 as I remember. Are there any 13 year olds who would be offended by that word? Hmmmmm.... this 'family forum' thing gets taken a bit too far sometimes.

and it is back to its reliable old self again: click the links in the sig below to listen.

The creaky old machine it's running on will only boot up if it's warm, so I tend to leave it running 24/7 again. So there's an uninterrupted service now, for the most part.

Still working on the requests though...

It's been called "gear change radio" ...

By who? The Internet Radio Gazette, perhaps? :hihi: ;)

By who? The Internet Radio Gazette, perhaps? :hihi: ;)If there were such a thing, I think I might qualify for the lowest listener figures of any net radio station.

To avoid bandwidth charges, the station is limited to 5 internet listeners. Looking at the stats, the most it's had in the last year is 3 simultaneous listeners.

And I know who they were! It doesn't get many uninvited listeners which is the general idea.

Of course a lot of people click the link, but rarely listen for more than a minute. They've usually tuned into a long bit of atonal noodling or Zappa or worse, tracks by Black Vomit/Rape Rack - pure listener repellent!

Ah, an old thread, but just to bump up figures, top station Phan. I always like listening when you pop in chat and provide a linky.

Always makes me wanna 'smoke' :hihi:
