What do you all think of the Nokia N-Gage?

http://www.n-gage.com/R1/en/home.html

I'm thinking of buying one as it's a phone, MP3 player, FM radio and games machine, for not much more than a standard phone. They're available from the Orange shop for £150, and can be unlocked for a few pennies.

Here's a nice picture:

They're sexy (for an inanimate object, anyway) small and light, and I think they're a good bargain.

They're bluetooth so thats pretty good and yes they can be unlocked cheaply;)

However you can get a spec on the phone here (http://www.mobileunlocked.co.uk/n-gage.asp) if it helps!

Amazon have the NGage for £129.99 with free UK delivery if that helps.

Get one if you want, but don't get it on Orange, their pay as you go tarriff is a rip off.

Personally I wouldn't, I've heard the games are crap, and that as an actual phone, the N-Gage is annoyingly fiddly to use.

Get a normal phone and a Gameboy Advance instead.

I've seen people using them as a phone, and you kind of use them side on. It looks a bit wierd, but I wouldn't let that put you off.

Although looking at how long it's been since you posted this thread, I reckon you've already made your decision on it!

Not yet!

A work colleague has got one (he loves the Commodore 64 emulator that runs under Java). It's a good games machine, but a poor phone, for the reasons mentioned above.

as he says himself:

They call it "Side Talking" but it makes no difference when I try... I have to use the hands free kit to use it as a phone.

I wouldn't touch it...concepts such as handheld gaming machines/phones in one are bound to fail, and if it fails 6 months down the road you're gonna be left with a piece of equipment that you can't exactly optimise, and you'll soon enough want a new phone. :loopy: Remember the Dreamcast back in 99'...it made Sega bankrupt and you can pick them off the Moor for a tenner. If the NGage fails you will see all the accessories in Poundland and be mad you shelled out for one...
If you're gonna shell out for a phone get a Sharp GX10i or GX20 they're fab

Why are they bound to fail? People said mobile phones were bound to fail, kinda got that one wrong didn't they.

I wouldn't bother with the N-Gage though as it's supposedly a poor phone and it's security was cracked shortly after release so you can play N-Gage games on other Symbian based mobiles such as the Siemens SX1 :)
