View Full Version : Is anyone going to be doing the childcare course at castle collage ? Scammy 28-08-2005, 18:12 is anyone going to be starting the childcare course at sheffield castle collage in sept? Clik32 29-08-2005, 15:36 I did the course this time 2 years ago. Really enjoyed it and it seems to be better than NVQ where you study alone, exam at the end, pass it and off you go to work. Easy peasy Scammy 29-08-2005, 16:27 which level was it chloe? and you did it at castle right? SCENIC 06-09-2005, 10:38 If you are interested, my daughter is the lecturer on this subject at castle college and I'm sure she would look forward to you enrolling and joining her there Scammy 06-09-2005, 10:42 ooo whats her name? or maybe you could pm and tell me?> FairyNormal 06-09-2005, 13:33 Is it a CACHE course you are doing? My daughter starts hers tomorrow at Hillsborough. Good luck! Scammy 06-09-2005, 19:57 erm ye i think so but what level is she doing? iam foing mine at castle FairyNormal 06-09-2005, 21:52 She is doing level 2 at Hillsborough. Some of her mates are doing level 3, also at Hilsborough. I did the CACHE Teaching Assistant course last year only to find out at the end of it that Sheffield Council/Education Department don't accept it as a qualification! Thankfully I didn't have to pay the almost £300 fees. If I did I would have been mightily p**sed off!!! Scammy 06-09-2005, 21:54 £300 fee for what? ye iam doing level 2 but at castle. was it her induction today or has she started the course? The Level 2 Teaching Assistant course was almost £300 but as I was on a low income I didn't have to pay. My daughter has her induction tomorrow, but Sheffield College being the incompetant organisation that they are got the date wrong on her letter and phoned her up yesterday to say it was tomorrow and not today. FairyNormal 06-09-2005, 22:04 Originally posted by kentboy119 But, without you knowing, you wasted time - grr! :) I don't see it as a waste of time as it's given me a years work experience and the grounding knowledge in legislation, policy, curriculum, first aid etc etc. Scammy 06-09-2005, 22:20 i dont think shell start her course till thr 12th sept shell just be enrolling tomoz ull have to let me know how she gets on. ToryCynic 06-09-2005, 22:39 Originally posted by FetishFairy I don't see it as a waste of time as it's given me a years work experience and the grounding knowledge in legislation, policy, curriculum, first aid etc etc. Fair enough - I thought you meant that the Ed. Dept. of SCC didn't accept it, and therefore no progression onto a job etc. :) Clik32 07-09-2005, 10:55 I did the DCE at Castle College. Can't remember it being called CACHE but that name was mentioned a few times. ClaraBella 07-09-2005, 11:02 I did the level 3 at Castle last year, was great, tutors were really helpful and i really enjoyed it. Now jsut got to get back into it after such a long summer break as i start Uni in two weeks. Scammy 07-09-2005, 11:05 ye chloe i think thats what iam doing.did they set you on your 2 day placement straight away and can you rember if when it was your induction was you there all day? FairyNormal 07-09-2005, 13:43 Originally posted by kentboy119 Fair enough - I thought you meant that the Ed. Dept. of SCC didn't accept it, and therefore no progression onto a job etc. :) I can still get a job (and am looking now!) but would be paid at an unqualified rate. To be classed as qualified I'd need to do the NVQ which I am looking into now. |
