3 years ago I joined the National Trust.
One year and one very boring visit to a house in Cheshire which was only partly open due to refurbishment later, (phew) I decide it was not good value and cancelled my Direct Debit.
Ever since then they have sent me a new membership card each year.
My moral dilemma is: Should I use the card to get in places for free?
Ooooo..Tough one....
....Use it, and get your moneys worth for the year you did pay..but not 1p over!...:D
I'd use it. It's their admin blunder. How are you to know you haven't been granted free membership for life? If someone sends something addressed to you in the post, it must be for you. You've done your bit by cancelling it. Now go out and see some sights.
Or send me the card and I'll go out and see some sights. :hihi:

Treat it as a gift, and start using it - especially as you didn't get your money's worth when you paid for your membership!
There's plenty of great places to visit within a short travelling distance of Sheffield - so get organised Deavon!
PS I'm a member of the National Trust - but promise not to inform on you Deavon! :suspect:

I have been a member for years, but have only ever visited one property. I don't even read the mags they send me. I have thought of cancelling my subscription several times but then have thought that the NT is a worthy cause and that perhaps at some point I might get round to making use of my card.

Use it.
Its not really costing them anything if you use it because by the sounds of things you wouldn't normally go visit stately homes etc. anyway. So if you do use it and maybe spend some cash whilst you're there then thats a bonus for the NT......income they normally wouldn't have got off you.
