Hi Again, sorry for so many posts on here Ive just got lots of questions lol.
Anyway, Im currently 20 weeks with my 1st child, a little boy :-)
Ive booked on to the antenatal classes at Jessops which run for 4 consecutive weeks. I was just wondering if anyone had been to these classes who can tell me what we will do? Will we get the chance to look around the labour wards, birthing pools etc?
Thanks
C x
I've never been myself but I'd guess they go through labour and pain relief, show you around the wards and labour ward. And then go through breast feeding etc.

Hi, I did the couse last year when I was pregnant with my DD. The course covered pain relief options, what to expect during labour, feeding options, basic care of newborn. There was one week where wh had a look around labour ward, that was really interesting and to be honest the best week of them all.

Hi there, I'm 26 weeks at the moment and got mine booked in for june at jessops. I've heard they're actually really good; they take you round the labour wards, show you birth pools etc, show you what to expect and where to go. I'll deffo be going to mine, more info the better!! Hope you're pregnancy is going well! :)
Thanks all, thats been really helpful. Mine are also in June x
Don't forget you might get to meet people at a similar stage and swap details. Its good to find out how people are coping after and find out your not the only person having trouble with a new baby and no one is getting any sleep etc! I'm still in touch with some people 6 months later.
Even if nappy changing seems obvious to you it might be good to educate the OH if they can attend. I think the birth can be more difficult for them sometimes.
I'm glad we went to ours anyway.

Do they go through breathing techniques with you?

With mine, which were nearly 3 years ago, they showed us around the labour wards/birth pool etc. Gave us the chance to hire out the big bouncy balls/tens machines. We got to watch a midwife bath a baby who was hours old, and it scared the life out of us all (Because it was a teens antenatal class, and the mother looked exhausted! We were all 15-18 very daunting!) There was a week where they showed the partners/birthing partners how to rub your back etc through labour, and I was the only one there with my babys dad so he rubbed 6 pregnant girls backs for us  I loved it when I went, but not sure if they are the same now, or if its the same for 'older mothers to be'. x
