View Full Version : Voice Loss - Update I
Just to thank everyone who supported my previous voice loss thread. To update: Depoix, who I met for the first time after I got back, insisted I bring a friend for personal safety, inspired my confidence immediately. We discussed issues and offers made in my previous thread (more later) and briefly touched on the outcome of my Needs Analysis (also more later).
Also after 6 months of discussing voice loss needs with a charity that asked me to apply for a post as Trustee, they have now offered to buy kit valued at £300+/- for an interview, date to be set. Puts to shame all seemingly impervious Private and Public Sector bodies, to my medical voice care advice. Of serious problems with HM Court Service, our learned Judiciary, Midland Mainline, Ombudsmen, etc, (more later).
I now think the solution may lie in a photo I found on the Forum of a massive excavator. Although I may be mistaken, I think letters attaching that photo will help recipients to see things differently for obvious reasons. Specifically equipment like that on on one's front door step may be far more compelling than any solicitor's letters or interfering journalists.
In the meantime I am looking for the photo which I cant find after countless searches and an icon of a lady bashing her head against a brick wall for my emails, faxes and letterheads :help:
roughy101 28-08-2005, 10:53 wendy i have pmd you:thumbsup:
nice one wendy, have you googled the head banging woman icon thingymebob?
mmh, I know roughy many thanks; I've just done a search and couldnt find any headbangers. ;) Think it's almost as difficult as dealing with all of my recalcitrant and countless public/private sector organisations.
roughy101 28-08-2005, 10:56 wendy two words head banging not one:thumbsup:
I've looked at the headbangers and think they could work for emails but are unlikely to get the message across in static media such as fax or recorded delivery letters to people with a complete lack of any sense of humour. :D Does anyone remember seeing the photo of the excavator and could they let me have the link?

when you have your headers, what is it you are going to be putting in you requests?what help would you need?
can the folk on the forum be of any more help?
are there any contacts you think we may be able to help you with? it must be very frustrating for you only bieng able to contact people by letter, maybe some of us take the telephone too much for granted.......a lesson in there somewhere i think
Hi Alan,
Thanks for the bump. Just to update you if I didnt at the time, roughy sent me several great headbangers which I'll be very happy to use in my emails to appropriate people. Unfortunately it wont work for my faxes and letters, so as much as I like the idea I'm very sad to say we'll have to put that to bed for now.
I searched SF for JCB, Excavator, Massey Ferguson's site you name it and I found it including the Llama Song, Horse thread and The Dalek Song (http://artistic-insanity.net/song/daleksong.html) ;) and I dont need a synthesiser to sound like that. :D Unfortunately I just dont have any more spare time to search SF for the Excavator because I must complete and submit an urgent application form to the European Court of Human Rights by 3rd October; the work involved for that is phenomenal not to mention everything for the Power Inquiry on 18th September.
I'd also like to thank again those people who very kindly offered to help out with my correspondence etc. there are a lot of issues and I have been thinking about how to manage this so it works well for me.
I do have some things that should be easy enough to deal with for someone to fit in to their spare time. I need to to replace my Zip Drive from Iomega because its suffering Click of Death Syndrome (CoD) and the CEO stated on TV he would replace all Zip Drives suffering this problem. I would do it myself but as I said on the Techy thread I just dont have the time. It's a brand new project with no paperwork or emails to complicate things.
I'd also like to know how and/or if it's technically possible to trigger an automatic email from Outlook if I am unable to attend a meeting so that I dont have to think about it and can let people know if I am not going to be attending a meeting.
Think that's enough for now because I dont want people to feel overwhelmed with it all. Mega thanks for the bump alan, much appreciated.
Wendy

Alan, please dont ask me how I missed this post; abject apologies ;) and as I'm way behind schedule owing to Power Inquiry Sheffield Event (see Notices & Events) I'm unable to answer your queries in any depth right now. Essentially I've reviewed my situation because of new developments etc.
Right now I'd really appreciate someone getting Iomega to replace my zip drive which is suffering Click of Death problems. I need to get my data off zip disks and on to more stable media. I've posted details in this SF thread Click of Death (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49711&highlight=Click+of+Death). If anyone can help me sort it out nicely that would be a welcome relief.
I'll post on whatever I've missed later.

Alan I've given your questions much thought since Friday.
Although there are lots of other ways people can help me, most immediately I'll need someone as my speaker on Sunday 18th September. Owing to circumstances outside my control I wont have my communications system in place for some while yet.
The work involved is reading my handwriting because when my voice goes, as it often does, I can only communicate by writing or typing and my speaker then reads out my words. In any event my medical advice is to speak as little as possible because of the stresses involved.

Hi Alan
Been giving your post great thought in particular how Forum folk can be of any more help.
I've had several posts & PMs that have caused me endless work that could have been avoided with a little thought by those concerned some of which is due to attention-seeking trolls.
One case caused me such untold stress, distress and anxiety I informed the mods I would contact them when I was better able to deal with the matter in hand.
Please Forum users READ threads to check if I've dealt with it before PMing and/or posting. This will help to save me a lot of time which I can then use to get on with other things.
The only other issue I need urgent help with is to replace a zip drive due to Click of Death; please see my post on www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?postid=499815#post499815grc.com/tip/codfaq1.htm :help: :help:
There is other stuff but quite frankly I am up to my eyes with final preparations with the Power Inquiry Sheffield Event from 1-4pm on Sunday 18th September.
