The next course starts on the 21st October and I'm taking bookings now.

The course offers pet dog owners a fun activity to do with their dog whilst slyly getting some training across as well!! All (non-aggressive) dogs over the age of 12 weeks are welcome and class sizes are small with two instructors to up to 10 dogs.

Does this include obedience training because my two jack russels could do with some? (serious question, may be intrested)

Strictly speaking, no, there is no formal obedience work. However the methods we teach you to train your dog and communicate with them are the same used in many modern obedience classes. Many of our students say they feel the tricks class has helped them gain more control over their dog. PM me your details and I'll keep you posted on any other future dog courses you may be interested in.

Not at the moment! I may do a different night in the future (re next year), depending on demand, so PM me and I'll let you know.

Hi

Does it make it more awkward if 2 owners come with one dog? Do many people do this?

Also, do you still have places available on your 2nd September course?

Cheers

2 owners one dog absolutely no prob! I always think it's a good idea if the other half can learn the same methods of training. Charges are per dog.

The 2nd Sept course was this year, not next, so has gone now. Can you make the 21st Oct (this Friday)?

Yeah! 'Course I do! I still look out for who's driving the TM Travel buses and whether you're on there :O) How's it going? You doing anything with Tess?

If you find a good trainer, you shouldn't need an Obedience certificate. Besides, Obedience is a different sport from Agility, whereas having a generally obedient dog (spot the difference..? ;) ) is a boon to being able to progress in Agility, or indeed, Obedience!!!

Staffies can be great at Agility - watch Crufts on the telly next March, hopefully they'll show a snippet of the Staffie Agility display :D Anyway, the main thing is that your dog has physically developed enough to cope with the rigours of agility training (landing from jumps and twisting / weird movements), so you won't find a class that starts before they're at least 12 months old. That's not to say you can't get a good grounding in while they're still young, e.g. teaching them to focus, have fun training in general, teach SIMPLE stuff like stepping over a FLOOR LEVEL obstacle, following you, etc etc. Our Tricks course is great for that kind of foundation training. The next one starts on Jan 26th.

However, as your little one is already 21 months old, you should get in touch with Hazel Higgins at First Contact (www.firstcontactagility.co.uk). She works with North Derbyshire Dog Agility club (www.nddac.co.uk) and runs her own school and is a highly knowledgable trainer. Get in touch if oyu want some more info!

Liz
