Hi, could anyone recommend some arts & crafts or haberdashery type places around Sheffield? I've only seen the haberdashery downstairs in Castle Market and been to the John Lewis one, but that's overpriced. Thanks

That's a good place, and the shop that used to be Whiteheads is close to it, at the bottom of London Road.

Atkinsons have a small crafts section, downstairs, I usually check it out when there's a sale on, you can sometimes get a few bargains.

Hobbycraft, Meadowhall Retail Park and also worth checking is Whittingtons Florists Sundries Tel: 0114-244 5719 at Parkway Market S9 4JG. I like to make wreathes at Christmas and get a lot of stuff from them.

The wool and sewing section in Atkinsons was recently moved to a different section of the ground floor in Atkinsons and sadly it's a much smaller area than before. I've noticed during my last couple of visits there that the craft section is now non existent :( .

for fabrics, haberdashery and some very helpful staff you could also visit fine fabrics on hillsborough road ro direct knitting on attercliffe common- both are dead easy to get to on the tram.

Direct Knitting and Sewing on Atterclife sells looooaads of fabrics both for dressmaking and quilting and also haberdashery items. It's like an Aladdins Cave. Doesn't look very big from the road but is huge inside. They also service sewing machine. See their web site www.directknitandsew.co.uk

Atkinsons is good and much cheaper than John Lewis. Direct Knitting in Attercliffe is huge and has lots of fabric. I sell cute and unusual buttons and ribbons by the metre.
