Has anyone got any good suggestions about what I can do about the following...

I ordered a 6 month subscription to the online dvd rental service for a friend's birthday present which cost £49.95. An email should have been sent to the recipient on their birthday from Screen select informing them of their subscription.

On the day nothing arrived, I contacted them and they said they have no record of me setting up the account, the £49.95 has come out of my bank acocunt. I emailed them again with a few more details and they emailed me back say they have no record of me, so tough really.

So now I'm left £49 out of pocket, my friend has no birthday present and Screen Select are £49 better off.

What's the best thing I can do??:mad:

get in touch with your credit card company or bank and tell them... they'll chase it up for you... do you have your email or paper invoice?

How did you pay?Was it online by plastic?you could contact your plastic supplier.

Thanks xafier, I'll talk to my bank on Tuesday. I didn't get any sort of email confirmation when I placed the order, which makes me think something has gone wrong with their ordering process. My online statement clearly shows that a payment has been made to them though.

Yep, paid with my VISA debit card

well just get in touch with VISA or your bank, they'll bust their ass on your behalf, they've technically conned you out of money :?

Yeah, as xafier says..

Get in touch with the bank and tell them that a payment went out that screenselect are denying knowledge about.. the bank will sort it out and the outcome may be you will get the cash back into your account while the bank sorts it out for you :)

Screenselect are well good though usually by the way!
I have 2 memberships with them on the £14.99 a month deals.. fantastic service overall and now the ability to pay using my BT phone bill as well :)
