View Full Version : Are you a bath or shower person?
starchild 05-01-2004, 14:16 Who out there is a bath person? Or who prefers a shower? Why!! Do you prefer a bath as it's more relaxing, caters more easily to lazy people who can't be bothered to stand up:P, and you can sit in there for half an hour reading magazines surrounded by candles? Or is it showers for you, the sheer speed, power and economiser of time in your busy agenda...you are a chick/dude who has no time for baths because the whole world needs you (or so it seems.)
Discuss.
Moon Maiden 05-01-2004, 14:28 I would love to have the time to spend in the bath, but I don't so I enjoy the times I have in the shower and makes extra special time for a bath - so hate it when I get disturbed.
Anyway. I would love more baths but like showers so no real preferences.
Moon
cosywolf 05-01-2004, 14:31 I'd love to have the opportunity to do both. Showers are so refreshing and quick - and it's easier to wash long hair.
But baths are so good for warming you up, soothing away aches and tension...
and it's less hard on your books if you read in the bath instead of the shower:D
Unfortunately, we only have a bath at the moment.
Cosy:P
Much prefer a bath but due to time contraints I shower more often than not.
so who put the never wash then??
i prefer showers but when im in a relaxing mood i have a shower then turn it into a bath, because if you have a bath straight away you are sitting in you own muck!!
but the usual is a Shower
Fletch
I like a hot bubble bath ......... for 2 ... hehehe.
A bath is my favourite, filled with loads of fluffy scented bubbles.
It has to be foam bubble bath I'm afraid as I can't stand those fizz bomb thingys that make the water look dirty and stagnent and oil is yukky.
I prefer a bath as I always seem cleaner afterwards [can scrub feet etc] however the corner bath I have tends to sink on one side when full of water and rips the sealant from the tiles. Will get it fixed when funds allow and I can be arsed, but until then its showers for me :(

How do you wash your hair then???? Please not with dirty bath water.
I would not go as far as to say that I had all the time in the world.
But I do like to jump in the tub at any given opportunity.
Full body massage springs to mind!:P
Fletch were you not the one to answer never? I thought you were allergic to water.
Shower for me, really like a power one, but our isn't. Always try and have a shower and not bath when we go on holiday.
I will occasionally have a bath but can't be arsed to sit there, get bored too easy, no patience, even with candles and book.
Place just been in Northumberland was more interesting though, a large (big enough for 2 very comfortably possibly 3 in a squeeze) corner jacuzzi bath. Excellent with a gin and tonic. And it is also in the process of having a mega big shower fitted, perfect.
Mosherchik 05-01-2004, 19:12 We actually only have a shower, so no real choice. Dont like baths, I'm too long for them I liked to be totally submersed but feet used to stick out up wall and would get cold :( I do miss sinking under the bubbles and listening to the world from underwater...
ok so Im mad :loopy:
but showers yeah...like showers, hop in get toasty warm, hop out freeze your bits off!
also showers good practise for safebreaking...fantastically hot...fking freezing...shameless Izzard plagerism there

starchild 05-01-2004, 20:08 I'm a converted shower person...
Power shower + bubbles + toasty warm water = makes Star happy
BrainThrust 05-01-2004, 21:37 I like both, but it really does depend when as to what i would prefer.
Mornings- Shower. not enough time and tere is nothing like steaming hotwater to wash away sleep.
Any other time when i have a spare hour - bath. there is nothing like soaking in your own filth to have a lot of fun. Come on and read a book while soaking wet, sheer bliss.

Classic Rock 06-01-2004, 13:58 Shower most of the time, bath if I want to relax. I've got one of those Babyliss jacuzzis but never really get round to soaking in it. Bath every three months or so.....
Give me the Bath every time, it is relaxing, comforting, comfortable, enjoyable, carefree, time consuming and pure pleasure.
*Twinkle* 06-01-2004, 19:37 Shower when I need some "Get up and go!!" IE before work...
Bath for every other time. I used to love having a long soak in there for about an hour, but now I just don't have the time!!! I'm usually out after 20 minutes  sad isnt it?
I'm getting into the candles and low lighting now for my baths...aah! Not to mention aromatherapy products to make my bathtimes even more special!!! Shame I haven't got so long to spend in there!
What is this needing an hour for a bath thing?
That is a special bath but 15 mins is quick and effective....

*Twinkle* 07-01-2004, 06:23 What is this needing an hour for a bath thing?
Because an hour is an hour away from the stresses and strains of life!
Try a glass of wine caprice!
That should do the trick.
You sound a little stressed!
Im a bath person, and unlike Miss Caprice there I get to spend at least an hour in there
Although swimming in your own dirt is a bit :loopy: ah well i "feel" clean after :lol
Sam Miguel 07-01-2004, 22:40 Normally, I bath on Wednesdays and Saturdays, but the rest of the time I shower, unless I feel like a bath. Then again, this Wednesday I didn't have the time for a bath, so I showered.
Hopefully, this coming Saturday I will take a well-earned bath to make up, unless I am cruelly robbed of time once again, in which case I will shower.
I suppose on the days I do shower - namely every day of the week except Wednesdays and Saturdays - if I do feel as though I am strapped for time, I may - and it is a big may - bath.
Seriously, though: normally, bath-night for me is on a Wednesday and a Saturday, unless.....
*Twinkle* 08-01-2004, 19:38 Try a glass of wine caprice!
Not old enough to drink! (well, legally...) Plus I don't want my essays going a little skew-wiff! lol!
I am in need of an additional poll entry
"chance would be a fine thing"
In my last house but one, I only had a shower
In this house I only have a bath
Actually I prefer baths but it isnt as though I could choose - and my taps are 60 years old anyway and dont allow for rubber attachments.....

kittykat 09-01-2004, 01:27 I like to mix the 2 as they both have their advantages. A shower is quick and convenient whereas a bath can be more of a luxury - where you can add things such as bath bombs (the best things in the world), glittery bubble bath and those round things that melt and leave skin floating around.
Bath definately....a long relaxing soak, followed by a quick shower to rinse off the dirt you end up soaking in! Very into 'Lush' bath bombs that release rose petals.
If I'm getting ready to go out and in a rush, i'll have a shower, but much prefer a bath. If I had a big enough bathroom I'd get a huge spa bath installed!

Showers on a morning to wake up but baths on an evening to wind down.......:D
i havent got a bath   ,but ive been away for a month and enjoyed the bath there:D ,at home i put my feet in a bowl while im in shower, strange i know :D
Bath at night.
Shower in the morning.
Easy!
Kristian 10-05-2005, 22:49 I love both, so I've not voted. I love a bath of an evening, and a shower in a morning. I love a shower especially if I turn the water temp to low just befoe I get out; guaranteed to wake me up!
BoroughGal 11-05-2005, 01:38 I hate baths with a passion, they're too time consuming and too hot (and hence more stressful than relaxing) - I can never get it the right temperature.
I do accept that they sort of cleanse deeper than showers, but I don't like that whole laying in your own muck thing too much.
Nice, quick, easy showers for me everytime.
*Twinkle* 11-05-2005, 05:42 My apartment only has a shower, so I'm a bit stuck for an hour long bath lol! (Unless you count me lounging in the spa at the gym lol....its nearly the same!)
I'm sad that I don't have a bath as I love Lush bathbombs and their bath melts etc... I just have to buy their shower stuff instead
I do get a bath when I go to Mums... I just end up arguing over the hot water with my sister/gran lol!
rubydazzler 11-05-2005, 06:17 I'm now intrigued as to what sort of things people get up to during their "too hectic to take a bath" days .... lying in your own muck/filth/dirt et cetera ... Didn't realise there were so many miners dahn t'pit on SF.
I never get that dirty ... although I like the idea of the shower and then the bath ... and then you could have another shower afterwards just to wash all the bubbles away and make sure you are really really squeaky clean - best of all worlds ... just hope you're not on a water meter ...:D
I only have a shower at my place, but there has been many an occasion when I would much rather be soaking in a nice, hot bath... Mmmmm.... :P
redrobbo 11-05-2005, 07:01 Bath. Lazy soak. Heaven.
The last time that i decided to get a bath instead of a shower was four years ago (literally). Seems like a whole lot of messing around with a bath. I'd prefer to relax by putting candles and music on in my room.
My routine is as follows.... I love having a shower in the morning to wake me up.. I can hardly climb in the cubicle due to the amount of shower gels, loofahs, shampoo etc i have in there! And I love a shower after the gym (obv!). But at night time I have a bath. I do do the rubbish, bathroom littered with candles..insense..book (anything Jilly Cooper, lol) stuff! .. I won't go into too much detail but I often wet my hair in the bath and use loads of massage exfoliant stuff (with those little bath mits) and so when I've finished in the bath.. I have a shower ..er.. to get clean after my perfumed filled bath lol.
ToryCynic 11-05-2005, 09:24 Usually a shower in the morning, and a bath in the evening - both.
Alex
JonJParr 11-05-2005, 09:44 Shower. Who likes to stew in their own filth?
Showers when in a rush ( mornings and nights out) and for hair washing.
Baths because I have the time and some lovely smellies on hand. Though not good at laying in there for too long but find a good book helps.
uncleheed 11-05-2005, 10:06 2 showers a day due to having no bath.Me,the wife and kids never went in the bath, and the bathroom was tiny,so we took it out,and had the room re-fitted.
a bath is like sitting in your own dirt, if i want a bath i go swimming! ha. showers are your friend

I'll tell you what us hectic girls get up to instead of having baths - watching the telly/going on the computer/eating food.
Now do you understand??
cgksheff 11-05-2005, 16:08 Was it pure coincidence that Shiesh pulled this old thread out today?
Toby Foster was running the same question on the radio this morning, too!
I nicked it from on here, as I was surprised that anyone still has a bath. But I did credit my source, several times in fact, so you all got a mention.
I love soaking in a bath but im too lazy to do it most time :hihi: . I usually wait until im late somewhere then run into the shower and stand there enjoying the heat for about 30 minutes.
