Hi everyone i am having a huge problem with my nc6120 laptop!!!
Basically it powers up fine and works for the first 5 minuets but then it freezes!!!
So i found a way to fix the freezing, you just apply pressure near the touch pad and its works fine but obviously i cant do this all the time because it starts to hurt my arm, and it restricts me to typing with one hand, and i cant sit back and watch video i have to lean forward and hold my hand down on it please can some one help i really need to fix this!!!!!

have you tried cleaning the Heatsink/fan as may be dusty inside, sometimes this happends when its full of dust and is over heating because of the dust.

Well it sounds like a bad solder joint that causes the disconnection of some component as the laptop warms up. Specialist job to fix it and a difficult job to identify the culprit.

normally caused by people picking up their laptops with 1 hand by the corner

Thanks everyone for your help!! If this is caused when the laptop gets hot could you recommend an external fan or something to stop it even getting to the point of freezing

if you have heatsink and fan issues the best thing is to get them replaced.

No amount of secondary fan will be useful in the long term....if you continue using the machine it will burn out and cost you more than just the component parts you have identified need replacing.

pressing near the touchpad to make it work dosent point to a mucky fan causing over heating
it points to something loose or broken and no amount of extra fans are going to sort it
for over heating a normal house fan pointing at the vents while its running will usually give you an idea
