Can anyone recomend a place where I can have my 360 disk drive replaced? Mine is pretty much refusing to play 100% of the time now, so its time to get it sorted.
Any ideas of price would be appreciated too. Or ideas of anything I can do as a quick temp fix

best thing i can think of is buy a cheap used drive off ebay and swap the curcuit boards over on the drive as someone told me that the drive is matched to the board in the console.....so putting in a new drive itself may not work

Yeah you have to re-flash the firmware of the drive or something. I had a look into it because my mates Xbox is also refusing to read discs. Unfortunately its not as simple as just swapping out the DVD drive like you would on a PC :(

Edit: Although according to this video you can swap out the "logic board" of the DVD drive, thus bypassing the need to flash it. Maybe it is worth looking into?

To be honest I havent got the confidence(or the cash incase I balls it up) to start messing with it myself. So I reckon a shop would be better

You also have to make sure you get the same/correct type of drive if your doing this as there's like 3 different types.. ( http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/Xbox_360_DVD_Drive_Comparison.htm )

I could do it, but i'd need to know at what sort of drive it is first and then source it and then fit it.. (fittings the easy bit)

After watching the video, it really doesn't look that hard at all. Its just making sure you get the right drive that is the main problem.
