The three rings of death associate with one of the following, it's either a power supply problem or a hardware problem as general and if I could give one tip, NEVER attempt one of the quick fix techniques that are allover the internet as the rings of death problem is never generalised and your more likely to mess your Xbox up even more by prattin about with it.
The first thing to do is to ensure it's not something as simple as the power supply itself because this is one of the more likely causes of the ring of death believe it or not, and if your Other Half spend loads of time on his Xbox then over-heating of the power supply could be pretty much the problem.
1. Unplug the power supply from the console and from the wall and then in the middle and then plug it all back together and plug it in, if the adaptor on the power supply lights green then it shows your power supply is fine and that it's the console itself with an hardware failure most probably rather than the "solder being fried" as most people tell you on the net when telling you the quick fix.
If it's not the simple power supply over-heat then get back to me and I will search for a repairer in your area.

Ok the best repairers in Sheffield are this company, you can either take it in to them or they even come out to you at home and repair it for £50
http://www.ghdxrepairs.co.uk/x%20box%20360%20repairs.htm
They offer a same day repair service for the 3 rings of death and they are based in Walkey.

Nooooo, I'm saying look at the site I have given you, they are pricing a Home repair service at £50, however the shop is based at Walkley is it not so it might be cheaper if you called up there with the xbox? I took the time to find the link for you it might be worth looking at it.
Cuold be £30, £40, £50 or it could be a lot more if the xbox is more messed up by attempting an home fix. But you need to get in touch with them to find out.

If you get one of these repairs you need to be aware that it is not the same as getting it repaired by Microsoft. The repair will not be of the same quality and will not last as long. It should be seen more as a temporary measure. Only Microsoft engineers have access to the parts and equipment needed to repair it properly.
In all honesty you're better off getting a new one. You can get an new Xbox 360 Arcade on Amazon for £120. You can then sell the controller, memory card and power supply separately to get some of your money back. You could probably also sell the broken Xbox 360 for at least £30 for spares.
The plus side of this is that you get a new model Xbox 360 which are no where near as susceptible to RROD, but you still get a new 1 year warranty and 3 year RROD warranty.
