Is it also a virgin router? I know they had some that you could only use on one pc or laptop ata time.

OK then, you need to ask them if it can be used on more than one. They used to, and still may send out wireless routers that only allow one connection.

maybe someone else on here can clarify this. I bought mine rather than rent because of this, but it was a good while ago.

That wouldn’t be much use in our house, PC, laptop, and two x-boxes all at the same time no problems with a BT hub.

Surprisingly many ISP contracts actually state that the connection can be only used with one PC

Thats just to save them the hassle when you phone up shouting because your internet is like treacle when your running half the streets resources off your connection. :)

How did we cope with a cable hiding behind the settee for the downstairs PC and the kids constantly plugging / unplugging a extension to the phone socket in our bedroom for the upstairs PC.

Isn’t technology brill

Hi, What model of router is it that you have? It should be writen on the bottom?
Also if you open up Internet explorer and type 192.169.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 you should get a login page fort the router default username: virgin password: password
You should be able to see your wireless setings and any devices that are connected.

I have the white Netgear wgr614 router from Virgin and it works for me. I've got 3 Xboxes, 3 PCs and a Blu-ray player connected to mine using a mix of wired and wireless and they all work perfectly.
They should swap your router for you without too much hassle.
Try changing the router channel first though. I just had to do that when my neighbour got a new cordless phone that interfered with the signal and it did make a difference.
