Err yes but saying that most DVD writers will write both
More importantly you need Dual layer DVD's

i have the dual layer discs but i cant seem to get it to recognise them...but i will keep trying thanks anyway.

some drives just have 1 format though some usually do + disks and some usually do - disks and some normally do both so if its not recognising them it will probs only do 1 format should say on the front of the loading bay showing a + or a - or if both then the + ontop of the - and if its a dual layer will also say DL on the front
