Hi there

Im hoping there are some hardcore matrix fans out there who wanna talk about the films or upcoming rumours (like i heard summat about a prequel) or whether there is anyone other than me subscribing to the matrix online and what u think about the death of morpheus.

Looking forward to seeing replies:D

The prequels are, apparantly, planned to take the format of anime. The Wachowskis have, accoriding to reports, stated that the live action franchise is over, but they are exploring other avenues to tell the story in. The Matrix Online is one such avenue, allowing the growth and continuation of the Matrix world after the films.

We have already seen anime Matrix shorts, but the prequel is planned to be feature length. In addition they are looking at comics as a further medium to tell the tales through.

hi beakerzoid

thanks for the reply. I do actually remember someone saying they might be doing a feature length animatrix. Its a shame there will be no more live actions as i think that would be the best way to continue the storyline but i guess it wouldn't be possible as most of the main charcters have been killed off.

I think comics are a good idea and two volume novels have already been released. One of the stories focuses on B166ER and his murder trial which was only skimmed over in the animatrix (second renaissance).

But i am looking forward to a prequel in some form. It could maybe about previous matrix constructs where a similar neo failed and zion was destroyed. Who knows!?

Wasnt very impressed with the sequels tho :(

hi saifa

the first matrix is truly the best of the three as it was unique and like you say and excellent concept. I thought reloaded was ok but i really loved revolutions i thought it was excellent and superb special effects during the battle of man and machines.

And you cant beat the Smith VS Neo end fight in revolutions.

The films, to me, were all amazing - but then again I am a huge fan of anime, and through the series the films became more akin to a live-action-anime. The first film was a standard (yet clever) action film. The second began adding more eastern style mythologies and visions, and the final part was pure anime sourced material (showing many of the Wachowski's influences).

I really loved the first movie, I think I've watched it like at least a good 50 times minimum, even wrote an essay on it for my english GCSE :D but to be honest i wasn't all that impressed with the next two... they were good, but I just felt they didnt have the amazingness of the first...

still meaning to sit and watch the animatrix, maybe i'll get round to it eventually

hi xafier

welcome to the thread, i too wrote about the Matrix for my RE coursework implying religious themes to the matrix.

I suppose the first will always be the best but the third is the fave of the trilogy.

The animatrix is well worth a watch so if u get round to it u will enjoy it especially the episodes "Second renaissance" parts 1 & 2 which tell the origin of the matrix - well good.

I also enjoyed the video game enter the matrix - i thought it was fantastic and was very clever in the way it is a parallel story to the matrix reloaded.

I recomend this game highly!

Does anyone have any news on the new matrix game "The path of Neo"?

new matrix game "the path of neo" is to prove a classic for matrix fans!

u get to play as neo and replay every excellent fight from all the movies and the animatrix - well good. Especially the thought of the last fast Smith VS Neo.

What do you matrix fans out there think?
Also does anyone have an idea when the release date will be?

1st film was legendary- 2nd and 3rd.. totally destroyed the trilogy completely.

Enter The Matrix- I was really looking forward to it, until I found out you could not play Neo or Morpheus.

The Path Of Neo.. looks very promising indeed and is on my list for the time being..

Also.. Matrix Online.
I was eagerly awaiting this for the PC.. until I got it.. played it- cancelled my subscription to it in under 48 hours.. absolutely dire game- it was just so repetitive it was unbelievable, and the lag in the game even on my machine was awful as well.

i guess people have different tastes. i guess it only takes a true matrix fan to like them all.

im a subscriber of the matrix online and i think its excellent and a truly great way to continue the already excellent storyline. Yeah maybe it can be repetitive but the events are great.

as for the 2nd film it did disapoint but i think the 3rd is just as good as the first.

enter the matrix was designed to partner the 2nd film so that is the reason why u couldn't play as neo or morpheus but if u unlock the secret construct u can play as trinity, morpheus, agent smith and other secret charcaters in a two player mode.

1st one good, 2nd one worst, 3rd pretty bad.

The Wachowski brothers got so pompus with the 2nd and 3rd it was unbeliveable! what tripe. basically 1st one was a good action/sci fi film....the follow ups where ego rubs and trying to be clever (and failing)

fair enough.....

is there anyone out there who actually liked alll three films?????

Yep..if you read my post earlier you would see that there are people who liked all 3. I know quite a few people who enjoyed them all equally, and even some who feel they got better. The problem was that the first film, as they didn't know if it would get a sequel, had to be simple in tone, and basically just an action film. With the other films they had chance to tell the story how they really wanted to tell it. Their inspirations (as mentioned earlier) came from manga and anime, and in the second and third films the tale became more akin to eastern cinema than western cinema - thus put off a lot of people who just wanted more fights and FX.

As for the games - I thought that Enter the Matrix was a great idea, and a decent game. i liked the fact that I was not playing characters from the film. I always feel that if you play a character with an established story it feels like cheating, and there is less free will (or at least illusion of free will). The Path Of Neo doesn't appeal to me for that reason. We already know his story - we have seen his fights - why should I wish to play through a game where I know the outcome?

u can be my new matrix buddy!!! beakerzoid!

like u said about the wachowskis getting there inspiration from anime they did actually start work on the animatrix long before the first film was even released.

i see what u mean about the path of neo but did you know that the wachowski bros. are going to re-write the ending of the first film especially for the game.

this is because many people were disapointed with the original ending.

but i dont know about u but i dont think neo is dead.

yeah the machines carried him off but in the matrix online his body is yet to be returned and also the oracle mentioned at the end of the 3rd that they may see him again.

what do you think?

The essence that I got was that Neo (or The One) was simply a software patch, to fix the bugs in the design. There were hints at earlier patches (which you can draw into this religious backdrops - Noah was an early Neo as the Earth-Matrix- was flooded to wipe out the bad-errors- and Noah-Neo was to lead the new order. Jesus, again, was one....etc etc). Thus, if you take this train of thought then Neo will rise again, just as in religions the chosen one will return.

On another point of view, when his body was being taken into the machine city, we saw a glimpse of 'matrix-view' in which his body was still registering power. Neo has shuffled the mortal coil and become something much more - pure energy, one with the matrix. His whole mental being is now a part of the Matrix, and so, in theory, he can recreate himself within the tapestry of software.

I won't be surprised if Neo does arise in Matrix Online at some point in the future. The Wachowskis have been adding layers to the online tale, and still have a huge story to tell. I still haven't got the game (I'm addicted to too many online games - mostly City of Heroes), but intend to look into it some time down the line (once the much publicised bugs have all been ironed out).

thats a very good theory and i believe it could quite possibly happen.

hopefully he will regenerate himself and it would make an excellent storyline to the matrix online.

I do highly recommned you subscribe to the matrix online i think it is a very clever game how the storyline follows im just waiting for the next event.

Im still shocked that Morpheus was killed by an assasin so i would like an event to involve searching for this assasin.

If you do subscribe try to look me up i go by the alias Lazzuras, and we could even create of own crew.

Going back to Neo i would like to see a prequel about original matrix constructs - maybe at a time set a few years after the second renaiissance, what do u think?
