Hi, Does anyone know where I can download a free and reliable FTP. I have a website which I want to modify so I want to replace what is on there with new webpages. Thankyou in advance.

filezilla. does it all, and it's free. The server isn't bad either

sorry I thought we were talking about ftp server, not client.

definately talking about ftp clients :)

I would go with filezilla or if you want something less complex smartftp is good and also free.

I use CoreFTP (http://www.coreftp.com), mainly because it was the first free one Google found for me! Good choice I think, no problems with it here.

Cheers for all your help it is really useful and it never ceases to amaze me the wealth of knowledge on this forum.

Can someone please explain though how I could use IE (Internet Explorer I assume) to upload files to my website.

Use IE to browse to the remote URL of the FTP server, and when prompted type your username and password to gain access to the server.

Then, I think, it's just a case of copying and pasting files from your local hard drive into directories on the remote FTP server.

Well that's how I'd do it anyway, whether it's the right way would be up for debate.

Cheers Rich that is worth bearing in mind when I am on the move and want to upload photos from my camera onto my website in Internet Cafés and such like.

Again thanks for all you help. I have gone with coreftp to upload onto the site www.seweezy.com and it worked straight away - No problems.

I used Coffee Cup FTP a few years ago and I had nothing but problems.

Thankyou again.

WS_FTP is also available here (http://www.csra.net/junodj/ws_ftp32.htm). No registration required nor is it a trial.
