There's a link there somewhere...

I don't remember it, but according to this site (http://www.propaganda.com.au/catweazle), Geoffrey Bayldon is going to be playing Doctor Who in an audio CD release due out in May.

(I presume that's the TV show we're talking about...?)

Mr Helicopter tut! tut! John played Worzel Gummage. I think you are trying to pretend to be too young for catweazle. I remember it, a fab programme. :D

I loved Catweazel. If I'm right, there was two series with two different lads.

You are quite right, of course. Jon Pertwee played Worzel Gummidge. Someone else played Catweazle - Geoffrey Bayldon?

I used to have an English teacher we used to call Catweazle - the resemblance was remarkable

You can buy Catweazle videos on ebay but they go for a lot of money - must be hard to get hold of.

And of course Geoffrey Bayldon now plays the Professor on 'Fort Boyard'.

He was a wizard from the middle ages who transports himself through time to 1970's England. He takes up refuge in a water tank in some woods and is befriended by a boy, he has a pet toad that he talks to.
Yes I'm old enough to remember this one and watched it quite a bit.

I vaguely remember it but never watched it - I think I saw a couple of episodes and then couldn't be arsed.

It was Geoffrey Bayldon who played the eponymous wizard.

And the toad was called "Touchwood".
I used to watch it as a kid, brilliant program. Word of warning though, never watch programs you loved as a kid. All the magic will have gone and you'll regret spoiling the memories.
