View Full Version : Green Street - New Elijah Wood movie about Hooligans
Me & the missus has just come back from watching the preview of this fantastic new movie starring Elijah Wood @ UGC
If you liked The Football Factory you will love this.. even the mrs liked it and she hates football.
Very very good film and we got the tickets free of charge from www.firstmovies.com well worth a visit.
9/10
Saw it last night on DVD. Quite a hard hitting film but really enjoyed it. I like these sort of films where you get inside the mind of the hooligan/criminal etc. Same as I liked American History X and Crash, They make you think and if you're in the mood for it then I'd recommend it.
Guderian 25-09-2006, 11:47 One of the worst films I have ever seen, without question.
Crash is one of the best films I have seen.
To compare the two is scandalous.

Well excuuuuuuse me. :hihi:
AtticusFinch 25-09-2006, 15:43 I thought this was a reasonable film, but not as good as The Football Factory. The thing that really niggled me about is was that the actor playing Pete was obviously Australian, and despite his best attempts to do a cockney accent, the aussie kept slipping through.

Pete was played by Charlie Hunnam, who is originally from Newcastle! He is just terrible at accents to be honest. His Manc accent in Queer As Folk was awful and his American accent is just cringe-worthy. I saw him being interviewed on T4 on Sunday and he seemed to be trying out every accent possible at the same time!
Very poor film, expected better and Elijah wood wasn't very convincing at all. Football Factory was a far superior film and not a weak performance from anyone

Yeah I would say simslar to that, half decent bit of fun for a laddish night in, would never recommend or watch again though.
Venger, maybe i was spoilt by Football Factory, I just found myself comparing every bit of Green Street with bits of Football Factory, and Green Street fell way short. Maybe i'd have felt different if i'd seen Green Street first. Danny Dyer is emerging as quite an acting talent.
Also the "big hitters" of the group in Football Factory were more believable
donuticus 25-09-2006, 18:35 No one has mentioned the best film based around football hooliganism yet. It is of course I.D. withs Reece Dinsdale and Warren Clarke bettr than football factory and much better than Green Street. Then again slamming your hand in a car door is better than Green Street.

..or The Firm with Mr Oldman.
Guderian 26-09-2006, 12:07 Perhaps I was spoilt by watching said film "The Firm" with Gary Oldman before any of the others. Puts them all in the shade.
stonerose 26-09-2006, 13:11 saw this movie(green street) and it was lame but the music was good at least
yummyyumyum 26-09-2006, 13:26 the film was too commercialised , wasnt gritty enough for its content.
football factory was way better!
Agent Gypo 28-09-2006, 13:16 Green Street is quite simply one of the worst films I've seen this year. The acting is appaling and the whole premise is unbelievable and utterly unconvincing.
Football Factory was better, and that isn't great either.
Look out for an old film called ID, much, much better than either of the afforementioned.

^^ ditto. It's on a parr with showgirls :gag:
Personally i really like this film although Football factory is better. this could be because Football Factory was written by a Brittish writer unlike green street which was written by an american. And the fact the two main characters werent even brittish annoyed me - everytime i saw Elijah wood i expected him to be on the back of a white horse with a cloak and hairy feet ... kinda killed the film a little for me.
shells2909 21-10-2006, 20:06 Preferred ID - its a film i can watch over and over! Sean Pertwee
marc1990 22-10-2006, 12:44 good film:thumbsup: not good 4 little ones tho
