His fan club consists mainly of ladies of a certain age group. Millennium Prayer, Saviour's Day, et al are just...... no, must stop now, before I get banned! Lestat 24-08-2005, 22:13 'We don't talk anymore' & 'Wired for sound'. leeroyb 24-08-2005, 22:25 We;re all going on a SUMMER HOLIDAY ToryCynic 24-08-2005, 23:13 Everyone's been voting "I don't like Cliff", and I for one agree. :) Siān 24-08-2005, 23:14 I don't really like Cliff but if I have to choose one it'd be 'Miss you nights'. Adopted by missionaries, and socialised into the male gender [not entirely successfully], 'Cliff' was baptised into Christianity and encouraged to sing. The results are surely amongst the most unutterably dire , banal and vacuous in Western popular music of the last hundred years. The recordings, without exception, are a sheer waste of studio time. This strange 'musical entertainer' has sung for decades about experiences, such as heterosexual love affairs, that he plainly has little or no experience of. He seems to live as a person apart, in his sad, celibate exile from the rest of humanity save for the 'team' of assistants he is alleged to live with. The 'Peter Pan of Pop' is, in many ways, a 'man' of great mystery. When finally his voice is still, and he lies where thunder cannot rouse, what stories will emerge. He is plainly homosexual, but in the agony of denial based upon an evangelical interpretation of the Bible in which being 'gay' is sinful. Witness his futile, pathetic attempts at creating a heterosexual identity in 'Goodbye Sam, Hello Samantha'. Who did he think he was kidding? More like, 'Goodbye Sam, Hello Gervais'. Who, in all honesty, would wish to be him? samc 25-08-2005, 15:50 Originally posted by Lestat 'We don't talk anymore' & 'Wired for sound'. Ooh I'll dance with you at the disco. These are my fav Cliffie tracks. Who, in all honesty, would wish to be him? I'm forced to like him cos I live with Mum who's a Cliff fanatic.. Well I say fanatic, she's not as bad as some of the 50something women who follow his every move round the country and go to every single concert he ever does, even travelling as far South as the Royal Albert Hall in London. Not that there's anything wrong with that, if they wish to devote their lives to the following of Cliff, good luck to them.. And no, Cliff is NOT gay.. And for that matter neither am I for liking him before anyone even goes there.... Who, in all honesty, would wish to be him? You know nothing, Cliff was ACTUALLY born Harry Webb.. He is NOT gay, and yeah he is a Christian and does preach his beliefs but so what? The man is entitled to do so if he chooses.. I repeat, Sir Cliff Richard does NOT bat for the other team... :loopy: Dug 26-08-2005, 14:40 Originally posted by Lestat 'We don't talk anymore' & 'Wired for sound'. Another vote for those two. Annoni_mouse 26-08-2005, 14:48 Awww..come on everyone. Is there no place in this work-a-day,cynical world of ours for a little Cliff?;) Ive not voted 'cos my faves not up there-"The day I met Marie" .Who else but a musical genius could so subtly fuse soft, lilting acustic guitar with an um-pa-pa brass band?:suspect: TimmyR 26-08-2005, 15:07 Cliff richard should be exterminated with all his music. I have never heard more painfully sickly drivel. nick2 26-08-2005, 15:14 Originally posted by Lestat 'Wired for sound'. Listen you idiot, Cliff Richard is NOT gay.. Sure he's not married but that doesn't mean he's gay, I'm still single but does that mean I'M gay?! No, it bloody well doesn't.. nick2 26-08-2005, 15:56 Originally posted by Rich Listen you idiot, Cliff Richard is NOT gay.. SpiderPete 26-08-2005, 16:32 We don`t Talk Anymore Oh yes forgot that songs, his finest hour, or 7 mins. I was gonna do a "Stock Aitken & Waterman" best act they did, but gawd.... they did some crap ones, it is hard to think of 10, plus Kylie would win hands down anyway. But I am sure Rich will do it before me :P D2J 26-08-2005, 17:52 Originally posted by Rich I'm still single but does that mean I'M gay?! No, it bloody well doesn't.. It's ok Rich. This is the bit in the song where he starts caterwauling, he's so ruddy well thrilled to have a record player!!!! And a radio!!!! :hihi: You'llnever get songs like taht about i-Pods, nor will you ever see Bono zipping around on roller skates with a satin bomber jacket on. Or maybe not.....:suspect: BoroughGal 27-08-2005, 15:10 [MOD NOTE] Don't let this descend into personal insults, please. Back to the topic? KookyKoo 27-08-2005, 15:17 grrrr that flippin' Millennium Prayer did my nut!!! I voted "other/I don't really like Cliff", but to each their own- not everyone likes the artist depicted in my avatar but it's their loss IMO, I'm sure Cliff fans feel the same way. mikeyspikey 27-08-2005, 17:53 its got to be saviours day!!-----a great xmas song!!:) why does everyone think its cool to hate cliiff?----could it be a touch of jealousy creepin in?---cos most blokes of his age are fat, bald & ugly!!!---come to think of it some dont even have to reach his age to get to the above!!---go on have a good look in the mirror!!:P mikeyspikey 27-08-2005, 17:57 kookykoo, is that tori amos as your avator?----think it is!--i think shes ace but most people i talk to have never heard of her!! ive got a couple of her albums!! timo 28-08-2005, 22:26 Rich, You can believe the lie that Cliff was born 'Harry Webb' if you wish to. However, it is a falsehood invented by the 'Peter Pan of Pop's' public relations dept. I can assure you that he was born 'Napthali Patterpong', of indeterminate sex, in a treehouse in Jelong. He was adopted by British missionaries who baptised him and taught him to sing Evangelical hymns. Until the age of six, he spoke 'pigeon English', frequently changing back to his native tongue. In fact, as a child, Cliff sang his own compositions. Sadly, there are no recordings of these early efforts, and only a fragment of lyrics in broken English survives; 'Congratulations on Saviour's Day, Napalm falling all around, Think I go depart away' By the way, I know Cliff isn't gay. His husband is though. pete_fcs 29-08-2005, 01:47 he had his peak in the late 70's/ early eighties i think....we don't talk any more, wired for sound, carrie and all that. okay so he's a bit cheesy, but hey he's had hits since 1957! he's sold over 100 million records! that's more than i've had 'hits' on my photos of kelvin flats website!:) madowl 29-08-2005, 08:44 Best Sir Cliff Richard song...... any he hasent sang...:D (I thought the young ones drove him off a cliff?) :hihi: :heyhey: What would we do with out our cliff at christmas... hes as Traditional as jesus himself.... long live sir cliff and his cheesy christmas songs....;) slh73 29-08-2005, 08:59 Whichever song they re-release when he dies...thats my favourite |
