This seems to be the current "trade" that attracts unskilled scumbags.

Roofline as they like to call it, I see many shabby looking vans occupied by lowlifes offering this type of work.

Approach with caution.

There are plenty of decent people who can do this quite easily. The two guys I'd recommend would be dan2802 off the forum (he's booked up until july) or try mc donagh building services 0n 07968089354

There are 'unskilled scumbags' in all trades.
I regually receive posative feedback on here and most of my work comes from SF.
As with anywork you are wanting doing, get several quotes and meet the tradesman. Ask as many questions as necessary to ensure your making the right choice. NEVER pay upfront!!!

I take it this is dan2802's company since his signature has Sheffield-roofline in it?

He seems to get very good feedback and regular work off here and so I say it pretty much opposite of how you describe them.

I dont think top4718 is refering to me, I think he's having a dig at the trade in general.

I know what you mean about the shabby looking workers and their sheds on wheels. But hey, get some of their jobs to look at or better still jobs they have in hand. Usual rules, get full written quotes on a company letterhead with legitimate address and a land line number. Full roofline jobs only last a day or two so no need for a stage payment but get a full invoice as per quote and pay by cheque or bank transfer.

Fall for the discount for cash con and you can only sue for the real invoice value. But cash is king and it is surprising how a discount for cash (tax avoidance so no invoice) will lure a customer. It is a gamble what most people will take if it can save money so you reap what you sow.

It is the same with us contractors though. We have to be on our guard against the rogue customer for which their is plenty off. If I have a prospect who's face doesn't fit I price my self out of the job. Life is hard enough without working for low lifes who just don't pay.
