My name is Shaun - that's how my parents spelt it when I was born and it's on my birth certificate and my passport - but I spell my name Sean (I can't remember why I started doing that but hey ho).

I'm thinking of changing it to Shaun again - I have been told that I may enounter problems getting registered to get married if I spell it one way and my birth certificate has it another way.

The first question is - is this true?

The second question is - will changing my name from Sean to Shaun affect my credit score? I am registered everywhere as Sean - birth certificate, passport and GCSE certificates are the only thing with Shaun on them

The third question is - is it gonna be easier to change my name officially to Sean? lol

Thakning you in advance for your kind assistance

Sean/Shaun

I believe that is true - your marriage certificate would have to be Shaun as well - unless you legally change it to Sean by deed poll etc

IMO If you are happy to become known as Shaun again you have your answer...it will be a lot less complicated!!

No it should not affect your credit rating as credit scores are linked to many number of things... address, DOB, electoral roll etc etc

Good Luck Shaun/Sean

:hihi:

I think it would only affect your credit rating if you changed your name to Robin B*stard.

You have the legal right to have your name as anything you want (with few exceptions). If you do you, you have to write to all government departments and your banks and stuff to tell them. If the name is different they may ask for a deed poll. They can then check credit ratings and track you, so credit shouldnt be a problem. You can get a deed poll for next to nothing.

the main one being if you are changing it for fraudulent reasons
