Don't want to be the voice of doom here but it's very very difficult to become a published writer despite how talented you may be, especially with poetry. It may not be what she wants but she could always consider vanity publishing and going for it herself? It's not as expensive as you may think.

Also, there are plenty of competitions out there that she could enter where she will be published as part of a collection as the prize.

I wish her good luck. xxx

Hi again,

Just thought of another site she may like to have a look at. It's a pretty good magazine.

Just saw a poster for a poetry book being published with proceeds going in aid of Wooley Wood Special School. If it is of interest then the address to write to is: 23 Weetwood Drive, Sheffield S11 9QL.

dont know; I happened to see it and remembered your post so copied down the details for you. Suggest you submit some samples, ask whether it is suitable for their publication and if they could recommend anything else. Cant loose anything and they may come back with some encouraging comments.

When I was about that age, I was a prolific poetry writer and all I wanted to be was a poet. Went along to every single poetry event, even dragging my friends along with me. Met people like Roger McGough who was then a nothing from nowhere. :D Look at him now!

Think it would be a good idea for your friend to just get in to the poetry scene big style because you can never tell who she'll meet.
