Tried to boot my pc with vista today and "vista smart security" blocked explorer, disabled avg anti virus, windows firewall and flashes up apparently phoney security warnings.

Cannot find in programs or statup to remove or disable this - does not look like TRUE windows vista as it asks for 49 dollars to unlock

Anyone seen this or know of a cure...

Thanks

Use Malwarebytes. There are one or two things you need to do first though as you'll see when you read the tutorial.

Use Malwarebytes anti malware to clear it. you can Goggle for "fake antivirus" and
find removal tools.

The program makes it difficult to run .exe's, launching it's own file when you try. To attempt to get roungd this you can rename the Mlawarebytes set-up file and main executable (mbam.exe) to a .com extension.
