Has anyone heard anything about a lot of the building on Furnival Gate being demolished in the next few months.

I was told about it this morning but didn't get a lot of details and I'm not sure if there is any truth in it.

So if anyone knows anything definate can you let me know.

Thanks

No Furnival gate is the road at the top of the moor in town, which has the Nelson pub and Sunwin House..

If it is the building on the corner of Furnival Gate and Arundel Street opposite what was Grahams Builders merchants, then it was demolished a couple of weeks ago.

Nelson House, home of the Nelson Pub between Pinstone street and Union street is being demolished to make way for a 19 storey apartment tower.

When will that be? Soon I hope, the building where the Nelson resides isn't very nice.
19 levels seems very promissing

Its already been approved. Construction in most cities would start within a couple of months, In sheffield, expect it start sometime in 2007 if ever.

It will look better now that the tower above Currys is been re-clad and looks a bit more modern.

The development of the 19 new levels of flats is taking place ABOVE the Nelson Rock Bar. In other words, the existing offices above (Dept of Work & Pensions) are being altered and extended upwards. And from what i understand DWP aren't intending on leaving for about 6 years.

The Nelson Rock Bar is NOT being demolished!
