Morning,
tickets for the Leeds festival have fallen into my hands so I'm thinking I might as well go although its not really my thing..
was just wondering whats the crack....is it like the *****ty V set up with tokens for beers and stringent searches on booze being taken into the arena an all that?
Any other top tips (mostly on saving money etc!) ?
I can't find owt on the internet see....
Cheers

Mate, the Leeds festival is absolutely rubbish. Terrible. Not worth going at all - I do know of someone who likes this sort of thing though, so I'll gladly take the tickets off you and pass them on? ;)

They do search going into the Main arena, but you can take booze onto the camp sites. They don't use beer tokens, at least they didn't last time I went.

Cheers chaps!
and thanks for the offer of a lift but thats the other thing.....
I'm playing in Leeds fri night so can't get there till the saturday, is that going to a problem for camping you reckon? just thinkin of glasto but if you got there a day in and maybe 2/3 days later than the majority of folk then your gonna be pitched inbetween the toilets and the hitler youth summer camp. hmmmm.
Looks like I'll be trying to smuggle a splash of voddy in a water bottle then!

Bear in mind that there's no glass bottles allowed on the campsite, so if you're taking any spirits then put them in plastic bottles.

my advice is wear a decent pair of boots... was at download festival a couple months back and why oh why are some people stupid enough to go to festivals in trainers? lol

tips wise.

1: as said before a sturdy pair of waterproof boots

2: change of clothing. you only need shorts and t-shirt.

3: carry your cash with you and don't take anything you'd miss if it got nicked.

4: dope stashed on person (ie in sock)

5: toilet roll

Oooohhh I'm so excited!!

If you get a bag from an exchange point, fill it with rubbish, then return it you get a free beer :)

I'm taking spirits in plastic bottles and plenty of warm clothes to change into when I get wet.

See you there people (I'll be the one in the cool black wellies with multi-coloured hearts on them!)

the weather don't look too bad.....http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=2575
but best be prepared! after a couple of muddy festies I'm double cautious!

Ahh well you know what they say...the sun always shine when you pour it down ya neck!

PS anyone whos going, Bacala's band for the wkd: Ralph Myerz and the Jack Herran Band, on the saturday I think....mental Scandies in old metal tshirts playing something between funk and bit of rawk with an emphasis on long drum solos! absolute class I assure you...amazing live

Still wondering if anyone's got transport from the festival back to Sheffield on Saturday for part-timer day ticket-buying people?

There seems to be 5 people stuck on that one (last coaches and last trains go too early).

Anyone got a small coach!? ;)

The new site for the Leeds fest is utter sh*te as it's long and narrow and it runs along a steep valley and there ain't that much flat land to camp on. As you can imagine, the flat spaces are quickly taken over as soon as the gates open and the rest have to endure sleeping on what seems like the side of a mountain for the duration of the weekend. My advice would be to get there as early as poss or get someone you know that's going early to pitch your tent for you.

We got a bit carried away a few years ago and amassed about 100 free cans of Carling. Ended up giving some away as we couldn't drink it all (tried our best though) :D
Hint - loads of other groups will already have rubbish in bags, and indeed may be glad of you taking it away

Better sleaping on a slope then on flat flooded ground. I'm planning to be passing out rather then trying to sleep.
