Anyone looking for an LCD or Plasma TV these days will know that the latest ones tend to come with 'HDTV ready' labels. This is a good selling point.

However, HDTV is not yet out in the UK. Sky announced this week that it will be launching an HD service in 2006, for certain channels such as the Sports and Movie channels. However, no price for this service has yet been announced. One thing is for sure though - it won't be free. Rumours are that you may have to buy a separate box (for between 300 and 500 smackers) and/or pay another hefty fee on top of your Sky subscription.
I have a 42" HD ready plasma myself and take the Sky service, but would not be happy about paying Murdoch another great wad of wonga every month for HDTV (admittedly though the demos of HDTV look stunning)
