Apparantly there was some guy trying to get in through our back gate at about 3am this morning (tues). I'm just wondering if anyones spotted this shady character around this time in Woodhouse / Woodhouse Mill area?

No, I don't live round there.

However, my back gate and front gate used to be waist-high and unlocked. Joined by solid, 8ft hedging.

After a couple of shed burglaries which obviously had used the back gate, that was replaced by a 6-footer and is always locked.

Burglaries did continue (including a couple of sneak theives into the house) and, finally, when they actually stole the (cast-iron) front gate, it was replaced by a 6-footer and now gets padlocked whenever we go out and when we go to bed.

The biggest problem was choosing what to do about the post!
We put a box in the front gate.

CG that sounds really bad, im glad you've managed to secure it now. What area are you from?

We have an 8ft gate on the back, but theres nothing to take to be honest! We dont have a shed or tools or anything like that.

Have a search through Hels' posts - she's had a nasty experience in Woodhouse :(

Some-one on the forum found a man actually in the bedroom when his wife was asleep in bed in Woodhouse and he knew who it was.
Can't remember the name of the F Member but long discussion somewhere about it. It's not to long ago.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Just been told that the guy was being really noisy when rattling our back gate. Obviously not bothered if he's caught or not.

So for people in Woodhouse (and Sheffield in general) check your doors are locked.

[Edit: Description of man removed - PM me if you would like to know more info]
