I remember about 5 years ago enquiring after 2 audio technica radio mic's i was offered discount saying i could have 2 for £300 or £165 each, I got the exact same mic's from sound control 2 for £198, kinda annoys you when you have been a customer for 20+ years and the cheaper price did not inc any discount. I was around back in it's hey day, when the likes of me and other well established DJ's were the cream of thier business, but once they moved into the installation side, my opinion the owners were not too bothered about us. Chris who is a good friend of mine has worked there for 28 years and has always been proffesional in his Job as he is as a DJ/KJ, I've heared that one of the owner's said to him on the anouncement that the retail side is closing down, that he could alway's get a job as meet n greeter at Asda, to me that is pretty appauling to someone who has dedicated his working life to a company. desy 26-08-2005, 11:28 Are they closing for good or moving. If so any idea's why? slh73 26-08-2005, 13:14 Didnt know they were closing. I used to work for them, about 10 years ago. Is it just the retail shop thats closing, or are they knocking the manufacturing side on the head as well? desy 26-08-2005, 13:25 At the time they started of as an offshoot of Johnson Electric on London Road they were the only shop that specialised in Disco equipment and lighting. Unless you built your own as we did with our decks but it's down to supply and demand. kirky 30-08-2005, 08:43 Originally posted by desy Are they closing for good or moving. If so any idea's why? they are turning the shop into another workshop and not bothering with the retail side of things anymore........ive known chris since i started in 1989,i first i used to hire equipment then i got enough money together to buy my own, chris was always very helpful and all in all a nice bloke. |
