View Full Version : Zero or the plug? whats happening
tochrisg 23-08-2005, 13:35 being a student in sheffield i have to leave the beautiful city every summer and head back down south and i have lost touch with whats going on with the city some what. i have heard rumours that zero has, or is in the process of rebranding the club and changing the name and expanding int 3 rooms. is this true or just stinky rumours and does anybody know when it will be reopening as the new club if it is at all cheers
Yes it's true. I believe the opening night as the new venue will be sometime in September.
I predict a Plug representative will be along at some point today to fill you in properly.
noseyrosie 23-08-2005, 14:28 They're calling it The Plug and the three rooms will be called Earth, Live, and Neutral! Live for gigs, earth for club, neutral is I think a chill-out room. Looking forward to seeing it!
Here's the deal with what's happening to our lovely little venue:
The Plug, Sheffield's versatile new three-roomed music venue, is scheduled to open later this year - breathing new life into the city's clubbing and live music scene.
The venue currently known as .Zero (www.dot-zero.co.uk), home to successful club nights such as Metropolis, Hustle and Razor Stiletto, is expanding into the adjoining premises (formerly a retail superstore!) and undertaking a complete re-branding.
The combined new space will have the capability of shows in the LIVE arena, incorporating a smaller lounge bar, known as EARTH, and the existing .Zero venue will become NEUTRAL and be used in conjunction with, or separately, from the new club space, depending on the event.
Programming for the Fridays will incorporate fresh house styles, techno, drum n' bass, hip hop and electronica as well as a variety of live acts.
Friday night residents include Chris Duckenfield (Swag) and Pipes (Tonic, monthly) and Chris Low Life (Lights Down Low, monthly) alongside Dean Muhsin & Geoff Ticehurst (Urban Gorilla)
tochrisg 25-08-2005, 12:07 cheers for your help i am very much looking forward to the new venue. just a quick question, whos running the opening night?

Looks fantastic, can't wait for the opening party. Good selection of DJ's, especially Dukenfield and Pipes.
tochrisg 26-08-2005, 11:58 by running i mean which promoter will be running the night- razor stilleto, sneak metropolis, hustle etc cheers
The bookings for the opening night on the 7th October have been done in-house and there will be a mixture of live music and djs over the three rooms.
Tonic start their monthly residency on Friday the 14th October and the 2nd Friday of each month from then on. :)

I notice the live acts for October include Caribou, Fourtet, Tom Vek, and Jamie Lidell. Most impressive.
If this standard of artist is kept up then it looks like being Sheffield's best music venue by a mile.
poimaster 27-08-2005, 12:39 The Plug??
THE PLUG?????
What kind of name is THE PLUG??!!
The really funny part is that there must have been a 3am meeting at Zero towers at some point and there were a load of ideas for the club's name being thrown around untill someone said
"wait a minute guys.....I've jus had THE best idea! Lets call it.... THE PLUG"
"yeah! What a great idea!" said everyone else round the table!
LMAO!!!!!!
Anyone wanna place a wager on how long it will take a local "artist" to write the word "butt" on their sign????
Im all for more, newer and nicer venues in Sheffield seeing as there are only 2 or 3 decent places for a nite out in this city but im not gonna get too excited about The Plug (LMAO) jus yet!
Goin in-house is gonna do wonders for their profit margin (in theory) but to put on nights yourself most nights of the week is a tall order, especially when its been the promoters who up to now have done the majority of the work.
I genuinely hope that The Plug (LMAO) does good business and puts on some great nights. God knows Sheffield's needs it!
JonScaife 11-09-2005, 22:10 Sounds good to me!
The Plug??
:wow: wow, i think i luv you poimaster, in the words of true romance "you're so cool!"!!!!
:heyhey:
The website is now online - www.the-plug.com :)
butt plug.... hehehehehe
:hihi:
Also, can anyone shed any light on whats happened with the capacity issue at the Plug - seeing as i've just been informed they've oversold by about 300 tickets for the Arctic Monkeys gig!
carcrash 15-09-2005, 16:20 MESSAGE FROM MUSIC-FIRST PROMOTER
Arctic Monkeys announce extra show.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, venue capacity at The Plug in Sheffield has
been reduced, and as a result we need help from 300 Arctic Monkeys fans.
If you have purchased a ticket for the gig at The Plug on Saturday 15th October
in Sheffield, then we would like to offer you this unique and very special
offer.
The first 300 people willing to give up their ticket for the gig on the 15th Oct
will be issued with a ticket for the new and extra gig which will be held at The
Plug on Sat 22nd Oct PLUS 1 FREE TICKET. They will also be given the opportunity
to purchase an extra 2 tickets for the gig on the 22nd before we put the show on
general sale.
The ticket swap will take place at Jacks Records in Sheffield on Friday 16th and
Saturday 17th Sept between 10am and 5pm. There will be no booking fee for the
ticket exchange or the free ticket. This offer is only valid to the first 300
ticket holders who make the exchange at Jacks.
If less than 300 of you take up this offer we will unfortunately have to refund
tickets until we reach 300. The last tickets purchased will be the first to be
refunded. So please help if you can.
Thanks. We look forward to seeing you in October.
Sounds like a bargin to me.
