I used to have a 'V' (obviously for vbulletin) next to the SF on my favourites but now it's gone....very bizarre as not altered anything knowingly!!

Majority just have the IE blue icon!

It disappeared because you may have cleared out your internet history, cookies or temorary internet files etc. It may have also been removed because the limit for temporary internet files was reached and deleted it because it was the oldest.

To bring it back, simply delete that bookmark and re-set it.

I sometimes make these Icons for my websites, but they don't work reliably in web browsers, they are not picked up every time, I think it depends how bloated the Browser's Cache is.

It would be really nice if they worked better and were more realiable.

Icons are great because then websites are easier to find in your favourites. And then the list looks pretty :P

I've not noticed any problems with favicon.icos not being displayed properly in FF, though I do know that IE often gets "confused" or has "issues" with regard to favicons (same as pngs with alpha transparancies - but that's not for this thread;)).

MTheo - Design a 32X32 pixel Bitmap image of the Icon, then use IrfanView (http://www.irfanview.com/) to convert it to an ICO format with the name favicon & upload this file to the ROOT dir of your website.

That's pretty much exactly what I did to get mine. Easy when you know how.

Or you could organise them into folders, like me!
