Yes there are! I have a fantastic piano teacher. I was muddling along myself for about a year and picked up the basics (plus a few bad habits). Since having lessons with a proper, professional piano teacher, I have blossomed beyond my wildest hopes and can now play the whole of chopsticks from start to finish without making a single mistake. Ho ho, eh kids?

I can give you the details of my teacher - if she's busy I'm sure she can recommend one to you. I am a middle aged bloke and did not know where middle C was 18 months ago. I'm taking my Grade 2 exam - having passed Grade 1 a few months ago - before Christmas. I am sure I will pass and am confident I will reach Grade 5 at least before dying of old age. I love piano, it has even helped me find a ravishing new laydee recently....

Anyway, PM me for further details, if you like. Alternatively, go to Alan King's tatty old piano shop on London Road; he is a great bloke and will be able to give you a list of names. Having a good teacher makes ALL the difference - mine is, in my opinion, a genius.

Well, you should try as hard as possible to help the child learn, but if they absolutely refuse to practice and/or just don't have the discipline for lessons, then you should encourage them to try other pursuits.
