I am thinking of moving from Sheffield (Waterthorpe) to Bolsover.

I had a drive to Bolsover recently, it seemed to be a nice little town. The only thing that puts me off is the smell from the local sewage plant.

Does anyone know if it's a nice place to live?

Have friends who've lived there for a few years now and they seem to like it. In it's favour it has easy access to the m1 with the new juncton opened 2 or 3 years ago, an attractive town centre/ castle and it's near to some beautiful countryside. You also get a lot of property for your money!

On the negative side it's a long way by taxi if you want a night out in Sheffield or Chesterfield and most of the pubs in the centre of town are very rough (at least at weekends when I've visited). Some nice pubs in nearby villages however if you don't mind a quiet night out.

I've heard from my friends that there that the local schools are pretty dire if that's a consideration.

Watch out which area you are looking at as there have been on/off plans for years to establish a tip for toxic waste. Not sure where it's planned so suggest you make enquiries if ou look for a place there.
