After a long while not knowing where to park for free in town, a few weeks back I found charlotte rd an ideal place to park.
Or so I thought. Everytime I go there, theres loads of broken glass in different places. Only today a Saxo had the whole rear window had been smashed.
The amount of cars which get broken into is unbelievable! Can't the police patrol there knowing this? It's just ludicrous, how do the criminals get away with this?? :rant:

It's true, and is the same on all the roads around Bramall Lane. I've worked in and around the area for several years - their are hundreds of cars left all day whilst their owners are at work and the local, ahem, undersirables know this only too well.

It said in the paper that the police don't care about catching people who break into cars, as apparently there are no victims! Can someone enlighten me on this statement? Surely, if your car is broken into, YOU are the victim of crime???:(

The police probably can't do much once the thieves have gone as there's not much evidence to go on alas. Car jobs are quick smash and grabs. But I did once spot a gang of youths with screwdrivers up the back of Ecclesall Rd, rang the police and they seemed to get there wihtin 30 seconds, in a riot van, bundling the youths onto the ground with gusto. Then one of the coppers stayed to take a statement and it took him an hour, as there was a Rugby match on TV. :thumbsup:
