I'm in S12 & looking for a local Am Dram group, it's not something I've done before but am hoping it'd be a good way to build my confidence. I've heard there are lots of groups in Sheffield but not having much luck finding info.

I'm 31 (going on 21) if that makes a difference. And also completely broke so free or very cheap would be good.

Thanks in advance.

You might find our advanced search useful- http://www.sheffieldhelpyourself.org.uk/advanced.asp

You can choose to search with one keyword (DRAMA) and one postal district (wherever you live).

We've got up-to-date details of 35 amateur dramatic groups at the moment all with up-to-date contact information.

Hope this helps!

If you are interested in amateur drama and fancy checking out groups in Sheffield that might be looking for members, you should pop on down to the Library Theatre to the SADATA One Act Play Festival.

The event runs from the 24th - 26th June at the Library Theatre in Sheffield and features 8 local groups.

The programme features a diverse range of material from established writers and unknowns and the details are as follows:

Slot 1: Gosforth Youth Theatre, "The Argos Catalogue" by Rod Duncan
Slot 2: 53 Theatre Group, "The Game" by Louise Bryant
Slot 3: Dronfield Players, "Can You Hear The Music?" by David Campton

Friday 25th June-
Slot 1: Old GYTs, "One was Nude, The Other Wore Tails" by Dario Fo
Slot 2: Ecclesall Theatre Company, "Fumed Oak" by Noel Coward
Slot 3: Strolling Players, "Blood Pressure" by John Harrold

Saturday-
Slot 1: Tudor Players, "Swan Song" by Vanessa Brooks
Slot 2: Buxton Young Farmers, "Close Relations" By Peter Slack
Slot 3: Awards Presentations

Tickets £7.00 (£6.00 Conc) and are available by calling 0114 2368378 / 07719 847 113

I joined a group a few years ago and have been actively involved in a whole range of projects since. It is a great way to spend your free time and I have met a great bunch of people as a result.

Give it a go!
