Sweetie,
Carry on enjoying reading Harry Potter and definitely carry on annoying your friends with it. Thats two enjoyable past times for the price of one :-)

I think many more people enjoy Harry Potter than might admit to it, the sales certainly suggest that.

Meh, I'm 29 and I still enjoy reading Harry Potter books.. As for graphic novels, sure they are drawn in a comic style but they are NOT comics, comics are stuff like Beano, Dandy et al.

That’s a misconception put about to make grown men feel better about reading a media primarily aimed at children, thus the re-branding to Graphic Novel, which means the same thing.

From wikipedia
A comic book is a magazine or book containing the art form of comics. Comic books are often called comics, especially in the U.K.. Although the term implies otherwise, the subject matter in comic books is not necessarily humorous. In fact, it varies widely.

But to be honest, I’m just pulling peoples chain here, read what you want and read what ever takes your fancy. It doesn't matter what you read, its reading that counts. Who cares what the subject is?

A lot of graphic novels are very definitely not aimed at kids. Art Spiegelman's Maus, and Joe Sacco's Palestine are two very good examples I've read, enjoyed and mulled over long after I've put them back on the bookshelf.

If you're 17 or 18 it's hardly a crime as you would have been only about 9 or 10 when the original book was released. It's only natural to want to know how the story pans out.

I'm 24 next week and I love it. I didn't get into it until I saw the first 2 films, then I read the 3rd book and it was such a great read I was hooked from that moment on. The 6th installment was fantastic.

I am a 32 year old male Harry Potter reader who also reads COMICS!

I firmly agree that graphic novels are just comics, and am annoyed by people who insist on saying "I read graphic novels!"

Most (as in practically all) 'graphic novels' are just collections of a story that was presented in seperate comics anyway....so what is the difference. Posh comics thats all they are.

As for the 'not all graphic novels are aimed at kids' arguement. Just because it is a comic doesn't mean it is for kids. Accept you read comics, embrace your geekiness....I have!

Back to Potter - I was so against reading them, and thought that any grown up who reads a kids book should be ashamed. Then I happened to browse the first chapter of book one (before the film came out to get an idea of what to expect), and I was hooked straight away.

To those who have not read them but still slag off anyone who does, give it a shot. After all, how many adults out there like films like Toy Story, Star Wars, etc. These are kids films.....just as Potter is a kids book. Are you all going to refuse to watch Chronicles of Narnia this Christmas as it is adapted from a kids book? Or how about The Hobbit? A great kids book that led to LOTR?

My mum has developed a sudden obsession with harry potter! She's off work sick because shes hurt her arm and shes read about 3 books and watched films too!
I did watch a bit of the film and I was scared to death! It was the one with the giant snake, I wouldn't class it as a kids film.
I think its one of those things everybody claims to hate until they've watched the film or read the book.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is premiered on Sky Movies on Saturday night at 6.

I might watch it if there's nowt else on (highly likely) even though I've got the film on DVD.

I don't think the films are anywhere near as good as the books. Usual problems with turning books into films apply - the characters are not how you imagined, there's not the same level of detail there, some of the child actors are awful.

The Prisoner of Azkaban film is the best so far - it's faster paced than the previous two. I've always liked Rupert Grint as Ron, Emma Watson was terrible in the first one, mediocre in the second, but was actually very good in the third, whereas I think Daniel Radcliffe as Harry is TERRIBLE!

I thought he was especially bad in the 3rd film. Looking at the trailer for the Goblet of Fire, Emma Watson is going to grow up to be an exceptionally attractive woman. Is it OK to say that?

I think it is, she must be 15 or 16 now surely? And it's true - she was a slightly troll-looking child when she first got the part, but she is growing into a very pretty girl.

And the problem for Daniel Radcliffe is that once the Harry Potter films are done, the poor lad's career will be over, cos he won't be able to be in anything else without people saying he's that kid who did Harry Potter.

At least Rupert Grint (Ron) was in Thunderpants after he did the first Potter film.

I have read all the Harry potter books so far and I am 36.. I have also seen the films. Not because I think they are the greatest works of fiction ever, but because they are good books and many aspects of the writing are fantastic, especially the inventiveness of the language used. I found the first book or so a little simplistic, but they got a little more mature as they went along and the 5th book was very dark and moody, and at times a bit of an effort to read.

Most of my friends of the same age have all read them too. and some of them are avid readers, and we often share books which we have liked, especially unusual ones.

I find anybody who complains about people reading harry potter while they watch the absolute crap that's on television e.g. big brother or whatever are talking out of their exhaust pipe.

i love harry potter!!! the books are fab and the films are good too! admittedly the films are not as good as the books but they never are! i think ur all being a bit harsh about the actors and actresses, they are onlt kids after all. not to mention they would have gone through several auditions to get the parts so the producers obviously thought they were good. their acting can be a little bad at points but hey we all have our bad days at work! im really looking forward to the next film, should be good! you don't get if you don't ask

I've finally got round to watching The Goblet of Fire and I have to say I thought it was pretty damn good; the second half with the maze/graveyard scenes was fantastic. Azkaban is still my fave book though.

I'm 24 and I have read (and LOVED) all the books so far, and own all the films on DVD.

I think they're definately among the best books I've ever had the pleasure of reading - it's rare to really find a good book that you can't help but be unable to put it down... and ever Harry Potter book so far has been that and more for me!

Bring on the next one!! :D

I have read the books several times & seen all the films, and thoroughly enjoyed them. I love Ron - some of his facial expressions are priceless. I dont think it matters what age you are - if you enjoy something thats all that matters.

I'm 19 and absolutley love the books, i can't wait for the next one. The films however....pile of tripe! The 'best' one was 'chamber of secrets' which is funny because thats probably my least favourite book. But i find the films just terrible compared to the books. And 'Goblet of Fire' film was atrocious! I dont know how people who haven't read the book even managed to follow that film! I bet J.K Rowling sits cringing when she watches them.
