Is it good? nicolad22 30-03-2010, 12:27 Yep I saw it at the Showroom - I didn't know what to expect but would recommend it! soundgeek 25-05-2010, 20:35 Yes. Very funny. Well worth seeing. A sort of Spinal Tap for the art world. And I think I heard Richard Hawley on the sound-track music... ed9morelies 14-06-2010, 21:59 It's fanflippintastic. Totally unique piece of filmmaking. Check out www.shefdoc.org.uk if you're interested in documentaries... Cynic 01-06-2011, 10:41 I watched it last night. I didn't know anything about it really and couldn't decide if it should be taken at face value. I've now seen one review that said - "If the film was intended as a satire on the superficiality of the contemporary art scene, the satire was going over the heads of the buyers forking out $50,000 to $200,000 a canvas". That was the feeling I had by the end of it. Alternatively, maybe it was a way for Banksy to make a lot of money very quickly without damaging his own reputation, or maybe it was all genuine. tommythecat 22-06-2011, 11:14 I saw it on a plane last year - definitely worth a watch. It's not really about Banksy - it's shot and edited in a kind of Borat style - very much about the journey and shortcomings of the film-maker and a dig at how commercialised the whole scene has become. As an aside, I used to walk past Imperial records in Bristol as a schoolkid where they sold canvases by Banksy for £200-400. Still kicking myself today. shaka_zulu 23-06-2011, 13:39 It's a very unique and funny film. I recommend it. |
